Battery Box Motorbike
I though I would report on my progress;
Well I come a long way since I started this project and she is proving out well. She goes at least 45 and with the 2 motor design, has very good acceleration. The brush motor tops out at 25 or so (runs at 2KW max) and the hub motor (5302) takes over from there. They share one throttle which was a little tricky circuitry wise.
My batteries are HiPower batteries which I got from ElectroMotor sport 2 packs of 16 cells wired in parallel for a 48 volt 40 AH system. I'm getting more cells to bring the system up to 60 AH and 3 parallel packs. No BMS yet so I'm being very careful with the discharge of the cells
I have about 50 miles of test riding and there are bugs like any new design but so far I happy with the way its turning out. The design is (I hope) DOT compliant and I just started the process of getting a vin number.
I do have the dream, desire of going into the motorcycle business but it's just a dream at this point.
I have had a few people ride the bike and they love it full EV grin. My brother just couldn't get off the bike he just wanted to continue riding. :D
Update:
I now have plates and she is fully road legal. The process wasn't difficult because she met DOT spec's just time consuming.
She got some paint
