I have been getting flats on the rear tire of my liberty 643. It has been getting really annoying. In 7 months I have been through 5 tubes and three tires. I ordered some slime tube protectors and slime liquid to add into the tube. Does anyone have experience with these products? Will the tube protectors really reduce flats? I am wondering because they are made for bicycles but I assume they should work just as good on the scooter. Does anyone else get a lot of flats on their xb-600 or similiar scoots?

Where I live in NM it is very common to get flats from thorns. I could not ride a bicycle for more than 50 miles without a very good chance of getting a flat. I have used tube liner with great success on bicycles. I put some on my 900 watt scooter and it is working very well. Due to the length of the tub liner (or tube protector) you may be able to double it up like I did for my scooter for more coverage. I took a long strip and cut it in half, then used electrical tape to secure the halves together (overlapped of course):
This was for small scooter tires (10 inch OD), so I don't know your tires are small enough.
The slime liquid shouldn't be necessary with the tube liner. I wouldn't bother with this, but if you already bought it, then there's not much harm it can do being in the tube. The problem is it will only seal for a while, and not very well at that. My bicycle with this stuff had a few holes in the tube that would leak air until I spun the tire up to high speed before a ride so they would reseal. After a while it degrades I think and gets less effective, and you have to just replace the tube.
It might allow you to ride home if something pokes through the tube liner which is kind of nice.

Thanks for teh info. My tires are 15". The protector wont go around twice, but is it safe to cut them to size or should I just let it overlap 1.5 times?
I find that the Slime stuff works great for preventing flats. I haven't had any since I got them actually, and I recently pulled a staple out of my tube. They do make a bit of a mess inside the tire when they plug a hole, though. Worth it, IMO.
I use the tubes that come pre-filled, so I can't speak for the bottled stuff. I would think it would work as well, though it's not as convenient unless you can't find a Slime'd tube the right size for your bike.

I use Ride-On, which comes in a bottle. It works very well on scooters and motorcycles - not as good on bicycles. In fact, it works so well that I have to check my tires every once in a while for staples and nails, otherwise I usually don't realize they are there.
I have a tip on using Ride-On, though. If you do get a nail or screw, don't pull it out until you are ready to patch or replace the inner tube.

I was wondering when I do eventually get a flat tire, how easy is that to replace on the xb 600? I assume its going to happen. So where do I go to buy the tires? The local scooter shops?
