Hello, everyone! I've been lurking on these boards for quite a while waiting for a good electric vehicle.
However, I've decided to pass the time by converting an old 1986 Yamaha YX600 Radian to run on electric. I've been reading through some build logs of others that have done this, but I thought I'd ask some questions about newer equipment.
Steve from the Peacehaven Electric Vehicle Workshop demonstrates his Electric Aprilia RS125 "Jozzbike" More information can be found at http://www.jozzbikes.co.uk .. the bike includes a 72v 40ah pack from LifeBATT, the maker claims 80 miles/hr top speed, and the video shows it having two passengers and still great power.
Perm-132 motor .. regen .. headway battery pack ... does 40 miles/hr uphill .. possibly 25 mile range ... has neighbors who think that air car is a cool idea ...
I'm thinking of converting my 95' Ninja 250. Was planning to use Etek-R with (5) 12v 33 ah SLA batteries for 60v. Was wondering if I should go direct drive and gear for say 50 MPH top speed or use a Comet torque converter (CVT). Wondering if the extra weight and work would be worth it???
Hello. By way of introduction, I have considerable interest and have done considerable reading & research on the subject of electrifying an ICE vehicle, but my actual hands-on is nil at this time. My The reason for my interest is a] personal economy and b] the pure fun of a project. I have no real interest in the politics of ICE versus EV.
back in november i bought a 78suzuki rolling chassis and converted into electric... it was an easy project because the motor was already gone, which saved me the headache in having to pull and trash it... it end up sitting for a couple of weeks with me sitting in my garage thinking my game plan to the point i decided enough thinking about it and just start the darn thing.... on a saturday i spend some time pressure washing all the grease and grime off the frame and wheels.. the next day i woke up early and began setting up my drive system for the dirt...

I have 2 bikes, both Yamaha 650 XJ's One is a rider, great condition, second I got for a parts bike. last week I decided to convert the parts bike to Electric. I found this kit that sounds nice, 72 Volt Perm 132 Kit with Contactor. On this site http://www.electricmotorsport.com/PARTS/parts.htm. Not sure what batteries to use yet as it is just a big empty now, but I figured I could use the gas tank as a box for most of the components besides the motor to help it retain its looks and leave space for batteries.
