X-treme XB-500/508 Electric Moped Information--Got any?

I am looking for a 2nd electric bike. My first is an eGO, which my wife uses all the time...leaving me with zilch. My choices are to buy a pedal-bike and fit it with an electric hub motor....but then I saw the X-treme bike/scooters advertised on ebay, etc. Does anyone have any reliable information on them? The seller/dealer tells me they are made in China and he will stand behind them for warranty, though the warranty is not long term...plus, for me, it means driving 200 miles RT to fetch this rascal since it is freighted to a dock in Phoenix.

I would appreciate anyone's opinion on these "mopeds" or the idea of upgrading a pedal bike.

Re:X-treme XB-500

Dart,
All I know is what I've heard from others.
Quality and Customer Services seem to be big issues The Customer Service seems to be with the warranty. Most are not protected well during shipping, and there seems to be a problem getting any kind of satisfaction from them during the short warranty period.
Regardless of what the so call dealer says, unless they are going to eat it, it's all up to http://www.x-tremescooters.com.
After riding a eGO, just based on what I've heard about them, I don't think your be satisfied with it.
Without a boost circuit, unless you want some exercise, you'll have to use the pedals often on inclines, and carrying two people is definitely out of the question, unless they are both small children.
They were once advertising a 2000 Watts 60 Volts, and I notice it's no longer on there site. I'd be interested in knowing what your dealer knows about what happen to it? They never had a picture of it, which was strange.

RE: X-treme XB-500/508 Electric Moped Information

I have no experience with the 508 but I have 3, 500's I bought for my 3 grandkids. Fine for them they all weigh less than 70LBs. If the 508 is made the same way I would say don't waste your money. I tried to ride one of the 500's and it couldn't even get me up my driveway without getting a full speed run first. My drive is 400 ft long with about a 60 foot rise, not that steep. My electric bike can accelerate up the drive from a dead stop to 8 MPH.
I would also point-out the big difference between the 508 and the eGO. The performance of the 508 won't be close to the Ego, think about the difference. Just compare motors 1500-watts for the eGO and 550-watts for the 508. The 508 could maybe keep-up down hill with a tail wind.

Just my Opinion,
Chas S.

The XB-508 is loaded with nearly all of the same features you will find on our electric motorcycles, yet the XB-508 costs 75% less.
The difference between the XB-508 sport & our XB-500 model is the sport look, the dual headlight system & the large 550 watt motor. For a few dollars more the XB-508 sport model can be yours.
