Purchasing B&B EB12-12 Batteries locally vs online

`
EB series Sealed Lead Acid Batteries from B&B Battery Specifically designed for Mobility (Wheel Chairs, Scooters and Bicycles).

These are especially designed for the high amperage, shock and vibration, deep discharge and long cycle life of mobility applications.
Power Stream states:

NEW: These new batteries are specifically designed for mobility. During the introduction period they are on sale for less than the price of a general purpose "BP" battery of the same dimensions

They list the EB12-12 12V 10AH for $48.20, since I need four my total cost would have been $219.36.
Every since I purchase another set of 4 12v 7ah for my auxiliary pack via a on line site, and I was not really satisfied with them, I decided to make every attempt to purchase my next set locally. The shipping cost just to return them would be as much as I paid for them, and there was no guarantee I would receive a refund since they would charge ok, but seem to go down very quickly as soon as I would pull off from a stop and never fully recover.
Now I'm having a problem with my Main Pack, they were already less than perfect from the same mistake I made with the secondary pack 2 winters ago, but they got me where I wanted to go. I just used the main pack, and removed the auxiliary pack and continued to cycle stack charge it for the last several months.
Something happen the last time I charged the Main Pack, I discovered the batteries were very warm, and both red lights were still on. The same problem I was probably having with the auxiliary pack, and open the case to discover they seem to have expanded or exploded from probably also overheating.
I finally decided to replace all four of the 12V 14ah original batteries in the main pack with new batteries and start all over. I have three 48 volt chargers (long story), so I should still have a decent charger to use.
I wanted to move up to B&B EB series, but didn't really want to pay over $200 for four. I located a local B&B Distributor here in St. Louis on the B7B Battery site. Got the contact name of a Dealer that sells them and I contacted them. Bottom line I am getting 4 EB12-12 12V 10AH for about $115.00, which I will pick up this Friday. Not only am I saving about $100, if I have a problem with them, the Dealer is local.
So all things that are suppose to be on sale, are not really a sale.

BB batteries can also be ordered from Batteries plus stores. But in my case I had to pay about $120 for shipping my eight EB20-12's from somewhere in California to Pittsburgh. The total bill was over $520.

I see they now list a dealer in Trevose (Philly area) - other end of the state from me, but still closer.

$115 for four of them is incredibly cheap. Like other metals, the price of lead is at record highs,

`The clerk quoted me one price over the phone, and the owner quoted me a $30.50 price on a email, so he honored the price the clerk gave me at first. My total bill was $122.56 and they were still in a sealed box.
I asked a friend to get me a price, since they have a account there, and they quoted him a even higher price close to $40.00.
I got mine from a Dealer that B&B said sold there Batteries in the area, so there may be a Dealer in Pittsburgh or close.

I ordered 8 EB20-12's. I live in Uppsala, about 70 km's north of Stockholm, Sweden.

BB Battery Europe HQ can be contacted at hansdevriese [at] bb-battery.com

The total cost, including shipping, will probably be something like €300, depending on currency fluctuations and such.

What was the name of the place in St. Louis you bought the batteries from? I am in Champaign, IL and I am having a really hard time find where B&B batteries locally. Thanks.

Re: Purchasing B&B EB12-12 Batteries locally vs online

Neither of the sales locations listed by B&B are actually sales locations. I have listed the responses from two midwest locations. I sent an email to Brandt, but he too was a little pricey. Any suggestions?

Response from Max Sales & Marketing, Inc.

We are B&B's sales rep, please contact:
www.batteriesplus.com for pricing.
Thank you, Maria

Response from Lowell-Kangas Assoc.

The local distributor for B & B Batteries is Brandt Services. They are located in west St. Louis county. Brandt Services, Inc. 2326 Centerline Industrial Dr., St. Louis, MO 63146 (314-567-1756)

I have no idea about locally, but I get mine online from:
http://www.digikey.com
http://www.electricrider.com
http://www.powerstream.com
http://www.zbattery.com

Do a google search for the model number of of the batteries you want like this. lol in which this comes up first.
