Just a little update:
My 2 tone (silver/black) little "Alien" aka E-MAX is rockin away, after I got my speedy replacement brake lever, thanks to GMImotorsports !
The batteries are lower in range now, probably real life range of about 17-20 miles on mixed terrain with heavy turbo use, but it still works perfectly fine riding inside town, utilities, shopping and such.
I can say that owning the scooter has reduced my car usage from about 100 % given, to about 40 %, some weeks even less.
I mean I used to hop into the car literally every day for all sorts of small errands within the 3 mile range, which made sure that the car never got warm enough to burn efficiently and this also contributes to higher pollution.
So all around, it is a very worthwile step to improve life in my community.
Of course I am still eyeballing the VECTRIX, if it EVER shows up....maybe they are being blackballed like any other venture that tries to dip into the oil companies domain...who knows ;-)
Has anybody ever tried to obtain and implement lithium ion batteries into their scooters ? Would the BMS and controller not have to be altered??

Most of the people I've run into in this field aren't rich enough to build a li-ion pack big enough to make sense for a scooter. I've been eyeing such a pack for quite awhile to e.g. use on my EVT 4000 or on one of the motorcycles I'm building. But, gosh, to say "sticker shock" would be mild.
I have built a pack for my Stretch bicycle using DeWalt packs. For a 33 volt 5 AH pack it cost $200 for two packs plus another $50 for a DeWalt charger.
One interesting option is the Thunder Sky batteries .. interesting because they come in large enough cells so that you're not soldering together a pack made from hundreds of small cells. Most of their expense comes from shipping charges, though.
