Luyuan 720SP Motor

Why do your motors attract us?
Generating Power is the mission of motor. So we require our motor contents you with powerful and efficacious.
We use CPU motor with high toque and effective power conversion, specially our advanced SUPPER POWER motor. Generally, loaded 2-3 people ,one 720SP could climb 30°Slope from static state. it also pulls an ordinary family-car or small truck quite easily. The super power of 720SP is evidence in driving.

Super power motor
Luyuan HD-720SP is our latest high-tech model, using advanced SP motor. This motor features high starting torque, effective energy conversion and saving power, leading to strong propulsion and high efficiency of power utilization.
Note:
1. Replace lube after riding 300km for the first driving. Afterward, replace it every 3000km.
2. Please use appointed gear lube.
3. Do not fill lube exceed upper limit.
Lube replacement steps:
1. Stop HP720 with middle support, start motor to warm it for 3 minutes, cut off power.
2. Loose screws in inlet and outlet. Discharge residual lube.
3. Tighten outlet screw. Fill appointed lube into gear box for 120ml.
4. Tighten inlet screw.

Re: Luyuan PB803A - Can carry 2-3 people, pull a ordinary fami

aaargh! More BS!

400 watts cannot propel any scooter very fast - about 22 mph/35 kph on level ground based on calculations with my own scooter.

On level ground and smooth pavement, a 6 yr old child can "pull a car". so the "pull a car" means nothing.

17 ah cannot provide 45 to 60 km range in any kind or real world conditions.

400 watts would climb a 20 degree hill (that's 36.4 percent- the steepest hill in SF, CA or Pittsburgh, PA area) with appropriate reduction gear, at just below 1 mph. Maybe they mean 20 percent? then the speed would be 2.5 mph, with appropriate gearing.

The Chinese have taken the crooked snake-oil capitalism from the Upton Sinclair days to a whole new level.

Caveat emptor.

` :?
It uses a very different type of Motor, which contains some kind of gear lube correct?

Yes, it is a different kind of motor with some kind of gearbox, but nothing can violate the laws of phyiscs. A certain amount of power (rate of energy expenditure) can only do so much work. 400 watts (about 0.4 hp) isn't much power. A fit bicyclist can put out a good bit more than that,

Did you see this?

The bike I want to make must meet the following criteria:

Be able to seat 2 and travel at 15 mph indefinitely, 20 would be better. Yes, I know that in most westerns parts of the world seating two is frowned upon but in China it is the norm. There are bikes here with only 180 watt motors running on 12 volts that have 2 people planked on the back - I have even seen three. One time...I am digressing, but I saw someone riding an electric bike with a refrigerator strapped onto the back! I wish I had my camera then. It was a 2/3 size fridge, but non the less must have been quite a task.

I could reproduce the explanation here, but better to just direct folks to the wikipedia entry on epicyclic gearing. The Vectrix uses one in the rear hub as a gear reduction.

The pros/cons are exactly what you'd expect for a single reduction gear.

Pros:
more torque for acceleration and hill climbing

Cons:
lower top speed
fixed gearing
extra weight

A agree that 400W run through a planetary gear would be very slow. This reminds me of a guy I knew in Australia who wanted to pull his boat up a really steep hill. He took an old Holden and put two transmissions in series into it. In low/low that car could drag a protesting elephant up a mountain, but a small child could out pace it in a leisurely crawl.

`davew,
Thanks, I still remember your first avatar, where you seem to be in a deep thought, so it doesn't suprise me you had a answer.
So what happens if we increase the watts five times to 2000 besides getting the elephant's attention?

Re: Luyuan PB803A - Can carry 2-3 people, pull a ordinary fami

I agree with the posts by PJD but a simple 400 watt number doesn't say much about a motor. I had a Currie ebike which I think had one of these motors: http://www.thesuperkids.com/450wahitocue.html . This motor had amazing starting torque and could probably pull more than 40 amps at 24v on startup which equates to a lot more than 400 watts output even with inefficiencies figured in. My golf cart has a 2 hp motor which would be almost a 1500 watt rating but it can easily pull 200 amps which means a lot more than 1500 watts output up a hill and can take that for quite a while without getting very warm.

The continuous rating alone gives a pretty crappy picture of a motor.
