Extreme XB-600 Shunt Mod INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED

I removed the seat to get to the controller and noticed the Red,Blue,Yellow and Green wires were all melted together (just the plastic, no metal touching metal). The bike had worked fine until I pulled the melted cables apart. I opened the controller to see if I had disconnected something and look for anything burnt out. The controller looked fine. I removed the melted section of the blue wire (the worst of the bunch), and replaced the connector. I checked the other cables and they all seemed fine.

After plugging everything back in and checking the schematic to make sure it was all connected properly, the engine will not engage. All the lights work, turn signals and both brakes included. The rear wheel spins freely, even when the right brake is held down.

Any help would be most appreciated!

It turns out I found someone selling a used XB-600 (with the 60V shunt mod and new 5th battery which was never used) about an hour's drive south of me for $100 stating (the engine was dead). I took the drive, turned on the bike and instantly realized that his engine was fine, just his batteries were dead. I bought the bike, replaced the batteries with the new ones I had just bought and off I went. The next day I wired the 5th battery in and what a difference it made!

I now have two XB-600's (1 with a probable bad controller) which I will test out at a later date.

I do have 2 questions I could use help with:

1. How do you remove the damn pedals?
2. What's the best way to charge the 5th battery? Can I use the stock 48V charger? Can I purchase a charger for just that one battery? I'm aware there are 60V chargers available, looking for alternatives.
