Battery Bag Alternatives

The NiMH battery on my WE kit is getting a bit old and I am thinking of replacing it. At the same time I thought I would reconsider the battery bag it is sitting in. I have never been a fan of bags. I'm certain the battery would fry should I ever get caught in a down poor. Plus bags tend to work themselves loose over time especially on the bumpy, ice-rutted roads I've been riding on recently. (You know it's been a brutal winter when you see the thermometer reading 16F in the morning and you think, "Goody! I can leave my warm clothes at home today!)

ebike sites

I have placed some websites on yahoo My Web tagged as electric bikes, which might be useful. am looking to replace my Electro-ped.I

Hybrid/hybrid?

A few weeks ago, I posted that I'd purchased a Go-Hub 36v system for myself. While that in itself is not noteworthy, I thought someone might get a kick out of the fact that I installed the system on an old beachcruiser Zap bike. For those of you not familiar with the Zap DX bikes, it's powered by 2 motors, joined together by a friction roller. The rider pulls a small lever on the left handlebar, the motors are activated, and the centrifugal force of the hinged motors forces them to engage the friction roller against the rear tire.

Winter Ebiking

Old Man Winter has gone far at his way this year to give me almost every type of Winter biking experience I can imagine. Rain, snow, bitter cold, rain and snow, snow and bitter cold, packed snow, glare ice, packed snow and glare ice and giant puddles with submerged ice. Yes, folks. It has been a real party. I have two bikes to choose from. Up until the weather got nasty I preferred a Bionx kit mounted on a mountain bike. I also have a wilderness energy mounted on the front hub of the townie 21.

So, which conversion kit is best?

I know this could start a flame-war, but I want people opinions of which kits are best for converting a bicycle.
Now, I know this is a subjective thing, so here are the parameters I am using, based on my situation/usage only:
- Commuter Bicycle use, 7-10 miles each way. In 1 year the office moves, and then it will be 20 miles each way.
- I would like to make the round trip in one charge.
- I would like to be able to at least maintain 20MPH with some effort on my part. Faster might be better in some places.

Meet the G2

In an effort to ween myself away from big oil dependence, I have been looking for an supplemental vehicle to my 1990 Blazer with its 350-V8 and 14 mpg. I want something that runs on batteries, is stable and affordable that I can use for in-town trips. I think I've found it!

There was an article in the Bellingham Herald last August 24th about a local man, Ken Trough, that is working on just such a vehicle. Here they are:
