single speed coaster brake problems

Okay, So im working on my first hybrid bicycle, and I thought I had chosen some ideal candidates for the project. I bought a Dynoglyde single speed with a coaster brake. It looks great with a sloaping shwin style frame all in yellow. To power it I have a heavy duty new winch motor rated at around 750 watts with a planetary gearing system built in, a 153:1 ratio, but now modified by taking out the last stage it runs around 13:1 (little bit louder, but very compact).

GOT MY Crystalyte 409 now come the questions!

Okay I got my 409 motor finally and being new to the hub motor arena need some help. First off I wanted to put the motor on a wheel stand and test it out along with my new motor controller before spending close to 100 bucks to get it built into a rim. Already I am confused…included is some hardware attached to the axel. On side one with no wires (pictured below) there are two drop out locks (one of which only fits on the back groove which is larger), a lock washer, and lastly a nut. FIRST QUESTION: why are there two drop out locks and are they in the correct order.

Electrike recumbent trike - Part #2

The second installment on an electric recumbent trike that I'm building is posted at the link below...

http://www.theworkshop.ca/energy/etrike/2/tri2.htm

It covers the final gearing from the motor, and lots of welding of the front frame components (some of them twice)...

Help me decide between the Sparrow conversion kit or the Mongoose/Currie bike.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Like a lot of you, I'm committed to using less gasoline and am an avid biker.

Being a student, money is a consideration so I'm considering the entry level sparrow front hub motor conversion kit ($399) or the Mongoose bike with the Currie motor that is on sale at Walmart for $279 (I think COSTCO also has it and maybe the currie site; all around this price).

EV WARRIOR manual

I was just given a old yellow ev warrior that is going to need a lot of work, and a lot of fun.
Does anyone know if there is a manual on line?
thanks

Wilderness Energy BD36 running at 48v

I wanted to post my experience with my WE BD36 here as I came here about a little over a year ago and many helpful people answered my questions.

First off, I've now commuted just under 1300 miles on my bicycle. My bike is a hybrid in that it is a 1986 10-speed complete with rams-horn handle bars with a 27" wheel on the back and the 26" BD36 wheel on the front. I ended up replacing the front forks with MTB forks which allowed me to put MTB brakes on the bike. I had previously created an extension to allow the original caliper brakes on the 27" fork to reach the 26" rim.

electric recumbent trike - part 1

The link below is to a project that I've just started...

initially it will be a 36V tadpole trike, with potential for 48V later in the summer.

Mongoose Electric Bike for sale at Walmart for $279.

I looks like the Currie electric bike. Makes sense since Currie and Mongoose are made by the same people now. I haven't checked in a while, but isn't this really really cheap?

Crystalyte controller hooked to Golden Islands hub motor?

I have a Golden Islands brushless hub motor purchased from Wilderness energy. I am going to hook a Crystalyte controller to it and have been told that the winding and halls sensor wires won't match up. Has anyone hooked a Crystalyte controller to a Golden Islands motor?
