Which batteries?

Hi

I am an ebike rookie and have some questions.

Why is the difference between normal batteries and rechargeable batteries so big?

TF owners

Hi all
I own Tidal Force bicycle and I am wondering if there is any other owners here.
I found this forum much more informative and much more on focus than other one dedicated to TF.
I hope I would not be radiculed or laugh at like on that another one forum dedicated to TF.
Don't get me wrong , I just want o start disscussion about my TF to more focused group.
So I hope there are any people owning TFs.

Double MY1018 from one throttle ?

Question for the knowledgeable ones..... would it be feasible to run 2 my1018 motors and controllers from one throttle by splitting the wires?

Was thinking of the possibility of having two motors in series all on the same chain to the bottom bracket. Switch on number 2 for hill climbing. Two separate battery packs. A smaller one for the booster motor.

Dumb idea? Just brain storming for fun, maybe get some folks posting.

Looks like there's a lot to choose from - what are some good, inexpensive units?

I want to commute to work, but I can't arrive sweaty - so I'm looking for an ebike that is reliable. There are minimal hills, and I expect to do some pedalling - I don't want to ride it like a motorscooter - I just want to cruise when I coast.

What do you think of the Mongoose? The Schwinns look great and are more like what I want - something with a basket and more urban-looking, but they're expensive. Primarily, I want something that won't break down at the end of the 90-day warranty.

Looking for brushless hub motor/ replacment vehicle

I recently chewed up my transmission once again in my schwinn s1000, I guess it doesn't really like 3300 watts peak. So now I am looking for a new electric vehicle to enjoy. I am planing on keeping my 33 volt 8ah a123 pack so what ever I get needs to work with that.

Currie bike controller connections

I recently picked up a Mongoose (iZip) HG1000 bike on eBay with motor but without controller, batteries and other stuff. I'm trying to figure out the connections to the motor/rear brake system so I can make connections to a non Currie controller. There is a six pin connector with the following color wire connected to it:Orange, Brown, Tan(?), Green, Blue. In additio there are three heavier wires with bayonette connectors: Blue, Yellow Green. Can anyone identify the connections? Thanks,
Dennis

Hello from Downunder (and question over which type of setup to go for)

Hi from Australia - I just joined the forum and wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm a mad cyclist from Oz looking to do an electric conversion. I'm currently working as a lecturer in computer science at Monash College.

I've been looking around the net for a lil while now :? and there seem to be many options for drive train. I'm already sure of which battery technology I'll be investing in (LiPo) but i'm stuck on motor choice.

Tire Recommendations?

I bought a couple of 26 x 2.1 Continental Town and Country tires for my Blast. One seems to have developed a separation after only 300 miles. Noticed it at speed today about 25mph the bike gets out of shape, vibrates, and the rear squirms like riding a snake.

They were 2 for the price of one, guess I got my moneys worth. I'm not sure if I have any confidence in these and may just get 2 of some other brand rather than take a chance on another Conti to replace the bad one.

Has anyone tried the Shwalbe Big Apple 26 x 2.0?

News Report "Man Motors On Hybrid Bike"

This is an amazing TV News video report on a guy, Michael Brown, who retrofitted his bicycle into a hybrid electric bike. See more description and the report below. Broadcast on TV in May 2006.

Bike/Scooter Options?

Hi everyone,
I was looking around on this site for info on the Ego SE Scooter. I am considering that and the Kasea electric (e-max "replacement"). Vectrix is sweet, but way too much money. I currently have a Goped ESR and think it's pretty much the worst. I have had nothing but problems with it since the beginning. I am on the third motor, second set of brushes, second power controller, etc. I think the Goped is over-hyped and a ultimately "tinkerers toy".
