VETRIX UPDATE ON NEW BATTERIES/NEW BIKES

Cell Propelled's picture

This evening, I had the chance to sit and have a phone meeting with Paul Flood (Regional Sales Manager), and Scott Linder(lead marketing).
They called me because of my VX-1 and the sour sale that I received from a BMW dealership on this bike. Knowing that I would get the full warranty for two years stated by them, and then doing my own digging in the franchise,...I found thast the dealership was turned down for a renewal on the franchise it self last Dec. So I was lied to to get the sale, take the money, and if something does come up, they would some how steal parts off another in stock. That is what I came up with,....WOW!!I hit it right in the nose, They called to talk about the raw deal and how i'm stuck with a VX-1 and no warranty.
I knew it was a great deal when I paid $6,000 for a new VX-1 with warranty, and when I offered it, they took it right then without blicking. Now I know why.

Question?....Tell me what to do! Should I sell it now with 600 miles on it,....try legally to get my money back.(Vectrix says do it),...should I like it will be a great ball of fun and not worry about the warranty,...or sell it here for $6,000.

These gentlemen said that without a warranty, if something does go wrong, it will be very costly for me here because they have no close dealers to help with chargible repairs, so someone would have to fly in. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!

O.K., enough bad news, we also talked alot about future bikes and products and power systems. What i can tell you is that it will be all up and new in 18 months from now. new bikes, new power systems, new additions to the old, a little more modern styling. They had great future ideas they wanted to hit when it all fell, now they're ready to rock, so HOO-RAY!!!! for the "V".

Please give me some input on my shafting!!!!!

Your VX-1 is still running ok at the moment right? You would hope it would be problem free for the next 18months anyway?
Also I really think that if you own an electric bike part of it is becoming familiar with things that you can fix them yourself. That way you can get 20 years use out of it not 2.

Can you tell me if the Vectrix uses a AC or a DC motor?
Things are slightly more tricky with the Vectrix I have to admit as it runs at a high voltage.

If it is your only mode of transport, or the main one, and you cannot easily afford it if it breaks down for prolonged periods, then get rid of it!

If you want to service and repair it yourself, expect to spend a very substantial amount of time and money on it - cumulatively and depending on how much your time is worth, easily more than what you have spent so far!

The question is really if the people who claimed that you would be buying a warranty along with the Vectrix would be able to pay the money back - if they don't have the money, forget it!

And do you have it in writing? If not, well, I would also say forget it!

The Vectrix may be a great deal for people who can learn how to fix it themselves, but not for anyone else. And only as a hobby, not as an essential means of transport to get to work!

This information may be used entirely at your own risk.

There is always a way if there is no other way!

Well, there are a few things to consider indeed.

As stated above, is this your sole mode of transport?
Are you satisfied with the VX-1 enough to keep it "no matter what"
Was the factory rep implying or stating that the bike had no warranty, including manufacturer warranty?
Was the dealership an authorized representative of Vectrix at the time of sale?
Was the bike sold "NEW, with manufacturer warranty" or "As Is- No Warranty"?
Do you have all claims in writing to sustain that the dealership misrepresented any and or all claims of serviceability and authorized dealership status at time of sale. (even if they knew the franchise was not going to be renewed, until such termination of franchise was enacted, they could still make sales and service the vehicle.)
If you have a legal claim and a lawyer that can get you your money (and his) back, great.
If the shop itself is willing to stand behind the bike and provide "in house warranty" even though Vecrtix didnt renew their franchise, then you may still have a decent deal. If they wont stand behind the bike, and you are in a position to do something about it, do so while the options are hot. I've got no love for dishonest businesspeople who will not fix what they sell.

This is not my only mode of transportation,...at 47, I finally got enough saved cash to buy something for myself after the family. When someone reads something like the website of Vectrix, and it states problem free driving, fun and all but "0" costs to run. The dealership lost its franchise back in Dec.,Vectrix said that anything after that date, they will not honor. The bikes that they still have, will be cash and carry, and have will have no ties to Vectrix of any sort. WOW! I love this bike,...what a great product to ride,...but if it has something like a problem that you all have had, just one, it will be parked gathering dust the years till someone has a dealership close to repair it. No one in their right mind would spend $5,000 on something that they bought at a garage sale that was cool looking, just to own it for fun. That's what this is like.

I and my wife are a regular couple with two children and a dog. This was, at our age, was going to be a fun new step in the future and getting that motorcycle that we always wanted as a couple,.......and YES!!!!,it is a "NO MATTER WHAT" kind of satisfied thing! Vectrix stated that this dealership has been out way back in Dec. 2009, I just got it last month. The dealership was a franchise in 2007, I think. The bike was sold as new, I had to title it first owner,...and what a HOOT!, I must have been the first "electric Vehicle" titled in Nebraska because they didn't even has a class of vehicle area to enter it in, so funny, all the head scratching!! The honest thing that I see that might have happened, is that the dealership just might think that any new VX-1, not sold, will be covered under the "set aside fund", because they didn't even blink when telling me that the warranty is still good for 2 years. As for the bill of sale, it only states the product, price, and total, no as is. As a new "V" driver,....to all the other "V"s,...I just went and picked it up after almost a month, with the repairs done for me by this dealership, trying to get it back in my hands before they find out what I have found out about them,...as soon as I got about two blocks away..........all harsh feelings had been completely left in the dust at the first green light. WOW!!!DO I LOVE THIS THING!!!! What great fun! When this company, I mean, when the rest of the world catches up to this company after the company adjustments happen, everyone with know what we all have been saying the whole time.

Sorry about rambling on!
