Yes you can but now the motor will get hotter if under max load. I finally fried my controller (not my fault) and did 2000 watt controller on a 750 watt motor and did notice that the motor is always getting hot. I will ride it that way till motor goes south and replace both with 3,000 watt versions. Rusty
