Razor E-300

There are many New Under $200 electric powered scooters but when you add in a real chain drive and pneumatic tires, one of the choices would be from Razor. I believe that the E-100 has a solid rear tire and needs to be kicked forward before the motor can propel the scooter. They now offer it with a real chain drive and the belt drive gotten rid of because of the breaking factor.

On U Tube they had one video showing a E-300 going thru its paces. The E-300 has sold enough scooters that it fixed the handlebar breakage problem. But because there are still teething problems with the battery and battery recharger I would not recommend it as the first scooter to buy.

My scooter was bought at the Post Thanksgiving sale and had the Shaoxing Huitong Battery company battery as OE(original equiptment). Being the impatient learning nerd I proceeded to buy new batteries (Same sized and new battery charger) which was equal to the price I paid for the new scooter.

I laugh at the claimed battery charge life of 45 minutes unless you weigh less than 100 pounds. The reset button will shut the power off on moderate hills. Maybe the best feature of the scooter is that it freewheels much more easily than my new BladeZ xtr se. I think the Razor can freewheel downhill faster than my bladez scooter.

Some more battery notes: One local authorized dealer has no OE battery in stock, in order for them to determine if it is still under warranty they have to check the charger and other mechanicals necessiting taking the whole scooter to the dealer. (In los Angeles they have several authorized dealers but I only bothered with one). The place where I purchased my scooter from warns that any warranty problem should be referered to the Razor hot line. Because I altered the battery set up, I felt that returning the unit would be unfeasible.

Even though the OE battery warns not to modify the electrical system or use the wrong type battery I did modify it. I clipped the wires that extend out of the battery and used the slip electrical clips that comes with the non-post sla (sealed lead acid) battery that are frequently used as power outage batteries (but the ones I got are used for motorized vehicles)

Most normal charging technique is to stop charging after the green light goes on. My charger doesn't take too long to finish and usually after a 15 minute ride it takes less than an hour to charge.

However I notice that on warm days the reset button needs to be pressed more often. Forget about hill climbing, I use my bladeZ e350 for hilly runs....
