LiFePO4 bulk buy
Hi all,
I am sure this has been tried many times but I think I have a new twist.
I can get LiFePO4 for less than $1.00 an Ah, I will offer 90 day replacement and a 2 year warranty.
- 3.6v 100Ah
Tell me what you think. Good bad or otherwise. I need to know how many people are serious about purchasing now and if you want 100Ah or 200Ah cells.
The companies I spoke with all began their quotes at about $1.60 an Ah but with bulk orders I can get $1.00/Ah and probably lower. If lower I will pass on the savings. This is no BMS and no charger.
Shipping may be a pain at first but I calculate $5.00 per battery.
I am an American and have lived in Guangzhou China for over 3 years now. Many of the LiFePO4 battery factories are in a city very near me so I have easy access and can go there to check them out first and deal with them face to face.
I have not spoken with Thundersky even though their factory is also in Shenzhen. If you like I can see about a deal with them and at least offer you better service and I will honor guarantees. But from what I have heard and read here and on other forums makes it sound to me that they use poor quality materials to get a low price.
Samples are $1.30/ah, so 100Ah * $1.30 * 5 cells = $650.00
I have several people interested in getting samples. If we can get a “bulk” sample order I hope that we can at least keep the shipping price down.
This is from a company called High Power www.haiba.net.cn
Comments and even flame welcome. I am an EV enthusiast, not a salesperson. I hope we can figure this out. I plan to do this and stick with it so I need to know what everyone thinks and what adjustments I need to do to make this work.

Re: LiFePO4 bulk buy
100 AH is a little larger than most of us on this site would require. 100AH would be good for a car, and we tend to focus on bicycles, scooters and motorcycles. Though I'm sure some of us would enjoy building an electric car so maybe some of us would want 100AH cells.
e.g. Looking over their site I would be most interested in two of their 48v 50ah packs for my motorcycle.
Do you intend to ship by air, or by cargo ship? Do you have someone in the U.S. to receive the goods and test and reship? How would you handle orders for people not in the U.S.? (This site has members from all over the world)
Are these the same batteries sold by some on e-bay with the name 'Hi-Power'?
I didn't see anything mentioned about battery management systems nor chargers. What about these?

Re: LiFePO4 bulk buy
if it is indeed 3.6v, then it isnt lifepo4, it is LiCoO3
lifepo4 is 3.2v nominal.
what cycle life do they quote? at what discharge rate?
in the warranty, what is the definition of failed?

Re: LiFePO4 bulk buy
I want to encourage your endeavour; we need ever more suppliers to compete and to keep the price dropping.
• What happens for failures after 90 days under your warranty?
• What testing will you do to insure quality?
• What are the high and low voltage limits for these?
• Like Thundersky, There seems to be more than one company using "Hi Power"...
Shandong Hi-Power, this one, and seems like I've seen one or two others?
• Is this company actually manufacturing the cells? or just reselling?
• What sort of thermal testing has been done on them? Graphs of tests available?
• What metal are the terminals & bolts made of?
• Do they mark each cell with its actual tested AH and Impedance?
• Will they "pre-group" cells for a pack according to actual AH capacity to match cells in a pack?
• Will they include copper connecting straps and insulative terminal caps?
thanks

Re: LiFePO4 bulk buy
I dumb at this....is ah same as amp ? What voltage and amps does your configuration make?
Re: LiFePO4 bulk buy
'ah' is short for 'amp hours'
One amp-hour is one amp for one hour. Brush up on your battery electrical mathematics.
