Charger Bike - battery charger
Submitted by leo on Thu, 09/17/2009 - 20:17
I have a Lithium battery pack and a separate battery charger. I was trying to figure out the state of charge of the battery from the 8 lights on the battery charger marked Led 1, through 8 Lights 1 through 7 light up after 1 hour of charge. Light # 8 takes much longer to come on. Is it OK to stop charging when I have 7 lights on? Thanks Leo

Re: Charger Bike - battery charger
Hm, I've never seen a charger with that many lights. It of course depends on the specifics that the maker of the charger programmed into the charger. Wasn't there any kind of user manual?
At a guess the lights represent state of charge, so 7 lights might be almost fully charged. The long pause before light #8 goes on might be for the final equalizing stage where the BMS does some work to make sure the cells are all balanced. Maybe. Those are educated guesses that could be wrong. The lights could be reading lottery numbers over the cell phone network and telling you what numbers to put on your next lotto ticket. Maybe not.
