Claim: "there simply is not enough money, land, or materials for everyone to have a car. And this is before the problems created by air pollution and environmental costs of car industry."
Hurm, that's a big claim which goes against some of the prevailing economic "wisdom". But it's an idea that I tend to agree with.
What's true however is that a light EV makes less land impact, less resource impact, uses less energy, is simpler, ..etc.. hence light EV's are a greener way of transport than big vehicles of any kind.
Too many folks fighting for too few acronyms...
There's another party wanting to use the term LEV for a lightweight 3 or 4 wheeler to be licensed and regulated like a motorcycle.
This guy uses LEV's for 2 or 3 wheelers.
And then of course there's NEV's which are now often classified as LSV's. IMO, NEV's are too limited to be practical except for niche markets.
It's all a bit of a TLA nightmare...

A big claim and probably true if he really means "everyone". However, that soundbite probably makes a better argument for mass transit than for LEVs...
Of course the future will be a combination of all sorts of technologies - including the oil-burners (they will be with us for a long time yet!)

I have to agree with your NEV thoughts. I am not sure where they would actually be a viable means of transportation, maybe my future retirement village. City electric vehicle with top speed of 45 would be better utilized.
If you are going to stay under 25mph, then an LEV seems right. Not a car, not quite a motorcycle, just zippy bike-lane transportation
