Considering upgrade, looking at options

Hello everyone,

I currently own an i-Zip Fusion 1000. I purchased it in June of 2008 and since then I have put roughly 770 miles on it. Used the stock batteries through 2008 and purchased a new set for 2009, increasing the amperage to 36 from 30.

I've been very happy with the performance, but after a year and a half, I'm wondering about getting something else with other features which could make things better for me. I came here because I'd like some suggestions on what I might replace it with.

First, something roughly the same size would be great. I live in a condo and must bring it up to my unit for recharging. I can't wheel a massive motorcycle-sized scooter on and off the elevator.
I'm perfectly content with the range and speed.
Not quite half of my traveling was done at dark. I had a light, but someone stole it off my scooter. I'd love to find one with a built-in light that runs on the scooter's batteries.
Finally, in those rare instances where my batteries die on me, pedals would be a huge help.

Price isn't a major issue, but if I can find something between $500 and $600, that would be great.

One "scooter" I found that I really like is the XB-490 (which also appears to go under the name MUV Sparrow) but it appears to be discontinued.

Thanks for your assistance.

I was able to put an XB490 in my shopping cart to checkout at this site:

I recall being interested in them myself when they first made an appearance. But, API's bad quality reputation made me shy away. Seems like it would satisfy both of the "other features" that you were looking for (built-in headlight, and pedals).

For the short hops you make, staying with the Fusion seems like it might be the way to go. Maybe you could change the handlebars to give it a new feel and look, and get one of the aftermarket headlights that you can wire into your system. Did you ever put fenders on it? A "cargo" box? Have you ever heard any noise from the gearbox? My Stealth started "ticking" within months of being new.

Fenders, yes. They were quite necessary where I live.
Cargo Box, not exactly. I haven't found much use for it though. Usually, I can get all my groceries into a couple bags and a book bag.

The only other modification besides the stronger batteries was a new fuse system. The stock one didn't fit very snugly, so it was arcing and the system would shut down.

Noise from the gearbox? Yes. I do hear a ticking sometimes.

After market stuff? I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

Re: Considering upgrade, looking at options

As a former scooter vendor, and a guy who used to try to fix X-treme products that were brought to me, I have to say that even though their new product looks very cool, my experience with the company was nothing short of abysmal. I would write them about parts and they would not respond. No one would respond to repeated phone calls. Once I ordered a part from their website and waited weeks before I finally got a message from them that they never had the part in the first place. Since they were the ONLY source for this 60 volt controller, a scooter worth over a thousand bucks never got fixed and had to be junked.

Maybe they are better now, but that was my experience with them over a period of two years. Finally I would like to add that the quality of their earlier stuff was so bad that it seemed almost not meant to be fixed. It was meant to be thrown away when it broke.

I am not kidding.
