Pike,

Great to hear you are going electric! Before I comment on Falcon EV, let me say I am in the process of setting up as local representative for a local vendor, Small Planet Earth EV, here in Colorado, so keep that in mind as I relate my experiences:

Last August, I began a talks with Andy at Falcon EV to purchase one of his lithium powered scooters (for personal use). We exchanged many emails and he was very quick at replying, answering questions and providing options.

The problem I had, when it came down to it, was that he dealt in cash only and wanted lots of money up front. The specs and options he gave me changed often. At the beginning of our talks he said 6 weeks but the delivery dates translated into a 3 month wait. He also elected, on his own without informing me, to change the colors I asked for from cream and black to cream and green - YUCK! (you can find this bike for sale without batteries on this site and several others). He also would not deliver my bike until he took it to an expo and let people ride it, etc.

To be fair, I was a high needs/ high demand customer and I am sure he was sick of dealing with me by the end but I felt like I spent a ton of time brokering a deal that I couldn't trust and with his 'cash only' policy, I had no guarantee I was going to get what I ordered or get a bike in any reasonable amount of time.

All in all, I would attempt talks with him again if it weren't for the fact that he comes to this forum under the handle of Proton and occasionally insults us,saying he would never sell his products to anyone on the forum.

I want to see everyone who takes on the sale of EV products to succeed, as part of the greater cause, and I feel the same for Andy at Falcon EV. As for his products, right now he is carrying the same bikes from Mountain Chen and E-Fun that many others do, with lithium battery options.

As always, shop around and compare all your options!

Re: EVT or Falconev/ sorry new here

let's get the facts straight;
you defaulted on your special order paint job when it came time to make a deposit.
At that time I was already committed / wired $ to the factory.
VB also wanted me to send him the scooter first and would 'pay' me afterwords...NOT !
So, I picked green and white. very pretty
Afaik, I'm the only one who can get custom two tone paint jobs.
The only reason i dont ride it is my 3 year old e-scoot keeps running...

Re: EVT or Falconev/ sorry new here

I do not understand why a seller would change the requested color for an item just because they did not get prompt payment. You would think they didn't care if they made a sale to a happy customer. I know if I ordered something and picked my color, I would not pay for it if the color was wrong when it arrived.

This happened to me on a car one time and they had to order another one with the correct colors, they also had to reduce the price to compensate me for the extra wait to get the colors I ordered in the first place. It only cost them money and now they had a car on their lot they did not plan to have, which also cost them more money.

Changing the color sounds like someone decided to get back at someone, what a way to run a business. Then to top it off they come out in public and say they changed it for no reason other than they think it is "very pretty", this is unbelievable for a seller to act in this manner. I would think twice before doing business with this type of a person. Oh yea, he said he would not sell to anyone on V is for Voltage already.

My Personal Opinion, NOT the opinion of V is for Voltage.

Re: EVT or Falconev/ sorry new here

Apparently the bikes offered here are the same or nearly the same thing:
http://www.fun-ev.com/

But, they don't have the warranty offered by Falcon EV. I think someone here bought one of their scooters, but I don't remember who.

Please note that Falcon EV doesn't manufacture any scooters. They just buy scooters from china. The two big companies apparently making high-speed electric scooters are:

- E-fun: http://www.efun-ev.com

I think their scooters are sold by fun-ev (link above).
Also sold by Zap as the 2008 Zapino.

- Mountain Chen's company: http://www.erider.cn

Sold by http://www.novascooters.com and...
Xtreme: http://www.x-tremescooters.com/
Also sold as the 2007 Zapino. Not sure if there's any of these still in stock.

If any of this information is inaccurate please let me know. I've been trying to follow the e-scooter scene as best I can, but may have some things off.

One look at the icon, the wording and the attitude says enough for me to never ever do business with this entity.

I read Dale Carnegie and took it to heart when in retail, maybe this vendor should, too !

Yikes!

(My 10 cents)

Andrew -

There's at least one more Chinese manufacturer - the folks that make the EVTA Z-20 and R-20. I don't think that's either of the Chen brothers.

AFAIK, NOVA's first bikes are "new old stock" and were made by ERATO which was the factory that was owned by both Mountain Chen and his brother. NOVA is getting these bikes from a source in California (as can be seen on one of the threads on the NOVA forum). NOVA is also offering upgrades to these bikes - I'm not sure if those upgrades are coming from EFun or ERider.

The Chen brothers parted ways and ERATO is no more. Mountain started ERider and his brother started EFun. I think that EFun still manufacture the same spec as the old ERATO bike and sell it as the EFun A or EFun B. Tracy at NOVA knows more about this "back story" than I do.

The new bikes from X-Treme the XM-3000 and XM-3500 are, AFAIK, not offered by any other US based website (Mountain Chen may have made a few direct sales of the XM-3500 under the name of the Paladin or VK-2008). Both these bikes offer significant upgrades over the old ERATO bike (which was sold by X-Treme as the XM-2000).

BTW, you can't buy these bikes directly from the X-Treme website. You need to find a dealer or broker, just like me ;-)

Re: EVT or Falconev/ sorry new here

Yea, I forgot one:

EVT America (not to be confused with EVT Taiwan or EVT World): http://www.evtamerica.com/

Sold through their website, and also
http://www.electricmotorsport.com/store

But, if the reviews on this forum mean anything, I would not buy anything from EVTA.

And there's EVT Taiwan (but they don't make any high-speed scooters yet apparently) : EVT Taiwan website

Sold through EVT World: http://www.evtworld.com
And by http://www.electricmotorsport.com/store

Thanks for the information on Nova Scooters. I don't really know whose scooters Nova Scooters is selling, but Mountain Chen mentioned them here as his "Agency in the USA": Re: My DoA Z-20b...let's call it a "Project"...want some help

Re: EVT or Falconev/ sorry new here

Hey Pike,

To me, there really are only two manufacturers worth looking at, and those are E-fun and E-rider. Personally, I think E-rider is the better deal as the bikes are more advanced and up to date. Also, Mountain Chen, their chief engineer, participates regularly in all phases of this forum and seems to try to be genuinely helpful. Good luck!
