Problem navigating Handbook Pages and finding them in recent threads

Hi,

thanks for turning the "Vectrix Technical Resources" thread into a handbook page.

I figured out how to create child pages, but the child pages do not show up on the "Vectrix Page". Only comments to the "Vectrix technical resources" thread show up on the "Vectrix Page".

That probably means that much fewer of the readers which are most likely interested in the content, and who would likely be able to contribute, will ever see these child pages. Many readers interested in Vectrix might have their browser setup to take them straight to the "Vectrix Page".

Suggestion: If possible, arrange things so that all postings in child pages, including future child pages and great-great-grandchildren pages of the http://visforvoltage.org/forum/2775-vectrix-technical-resources thread show up in the "Vectrix Page" as well.

Hope this is possible and thanks again!

Re: Problem navigating Handbook Pages and finding them in ...

Another problem along the same lines:

I cannot find the http://visforvoltage.org/book-page/ev-collaborative-hand-books/995-ev-collaborative-hand-books by starting from the "Home" page.

Only if I go through the back door so to say.

http://visforvoltage.org/tracker --> http://visforvoltage.org/book/ev-collaborative-hand-books/6155 --> http://visforvoltage.org/book/ev-collaborative-hand-books/6146 --> http://visforvoltage.org/forum/2775-vectrix-technical-resources --> http://visforvoltage.org/book-page/v-voltage-forums-community-hand-books/1129-electric-motorcycle-collaborative-hand-books --> http://visforvoltage.org/book-page/ev-collaborative-hand-books/995-ev-collaborative-hand-books

Once I am on that page, and then click on http://visforvoltage.org/ or "HOME", I cannot find the link back to the handbook page!

Unless you know it is there and put in a real effort, you will not find it!

Even the search function does not find the recent "bookpage" named "Inrush Current Limiter (ICL)" at http://visforvoltage.org/book/ev-collaborative-hand-books/6146 when I use the search term: "Inrush Current Limiter (ICL)".
Maybe that is just because it is too new?

This information may be used entirely at your own risk.

There is always a way if there is no other way!

Re: Problem navigating Handbook Pages and finding them in ...

It is possible to get to the "EV Collaborative Handbooks" from any page.. if you look in the navigation bar you'll see "handbooks", click on that and you're taken to http://visforvoltage.org/book which then lists all the top level handbooks. You should also be able to expand the Handbooks portion of that menu and see a direct link. Well, I just checked and instead of going to "EV Collaborative Handbooks" it goes directly to the entries below that so you have direct access to "EV Motorcycles"..

However it seems you're not the first to miss the links in the navigation menu, and that is a cluebat hitting me over the head that perhaps I should come up with a way to move that menu upward.

As for whether the pages show up on the Vextrix section of the forum..

The thing is that a "book" page type is different from a "forum" page type. Forum's only show forum pages, whereas books can show other kinds of page types. We can arrange for any page to be integrated into a book. The "add child page" creates book pages, not forum pages, hence the child page would not show up in the forum.

We probably can put a link at the top of the Vectrix forum section that links to the handbook pages.

Drupal is far more flexible than offering only forum capabilities. It can support all sorts of content. But as a community we're obviously using this site primarily as a forum, and that is dominating the navigation of the site.
