Howdy,
New to the forum! I Picked up a Baja 500 a few days ago, and found it to be a great little scooter. The weather has not allowed me to do much riding as of yet, but l was totally impressed with the short test ride l did have. The bike is well built, it rides and handles like a motorcycle. While having owned a few of the other scooters on the market, the Baja has the most get up and go. A small, grey plug-in wire located near the left side handlebar, seems to be the connection which controls the speed. Once unplugged, this allows the bike to do speeds up to 60km/h. The price, fit and finish make this e-bike a great find. Will post more as the weather improves and allows more ride time...
If you pull the covers off the the bars, that gray wire will lead to a small circuit board with a poteniomter on it. With the gray wire plugged in you can adjust the governed top sped with that pot. With the gray wire unplugd, it is ungoverned.
ln charging the battery, do l leave the main switch under the seat off or on? A couple people have told me to leave the switch and key on when charging which makes no sense to me. Also has anyone put a higher watt motor on this bike?
Thanks
No need to leave the KEY switch on, however, I think the owners manual says to turn OFF the breaker switch under the seat while charging, but that doesn't work, you need to leave the breaker switch ON, and turn the key switch OFF unless you are driving.
Look around the threads here, others have added another battery. Also search the 'shunt' thread which modifies the controller to allow more current to the existing motor.
