I have searched the forums for a definitive answer as to the possibly of using my switching mobility charger (120 ac to 24v agm charger) plugged into a non sine wave inverter. I have found a 12 to 24 charger but am trying to accomplish without spending if possible since this would be a rarely used option.

I can't believe no one has answered this? Will a switching power supply ( 24 v battery charger) work plugged into a small stepped mode 12 to 110 inverter?

pure square wave should be fine, the charger rectifies it back to DC anyway
modified square wave or modified sine wave is hard on the input caps, if all you can find is one of those, than bridge the internal DC bus of the charger and inverter.

Matt I am assuming you mean only the (-) Buss since the Input of the inverter is 12v and the output of the charger is 24. Can you point me to any website that has experimented with this?

Nope,
cheap inverters generally work like this:
12v in
dc-dc boost up to 170vdc
H bridge to convert it to 120vac
cheap chargers work like this:
120vac in
rectified to 170vdc
buck converted down to whatever voltage you want (~24vdc in your case)
I'm just talking about bridging the two 170vdc busses, and skipping the AC part
