Open letter to Mr Decosta of Vectrix USA

Dear Mr DeCosta

I give up ! You are by far the most difficult person on the planet to get a response from.

I have need for parts due to a crash some of which are body panels - other are less important.

After months of emailing you and getting no reply (different email address just in case) and often using a similar but different subject matter.
You may sometimes return the first email and then ignore subsequent ones for weeks/months in my case.

There are no dealers in NZ and I think I am about as well versed in the vectrix as most of the readers of this forum. I want to keep mine on the road as much as i can.

But the customer service from you Mr Decosta is just appalling.... I work in the motorcycle industry and find his lack of replies to any communication just astonishing and quite beyond belief.

Sadly this is not the first time this has happened when dealing with Vectrix directly and especially you Mr Decosta as the only time i got a response from you last time this was the case was to literally email every vectrix email address i could find. I have no doubt this put your heckles up but the fact it came to that should be an indication of the level of frustration getting no response whatsoever from you over days / weeks / months can induce.

I have no problem if you were busy and just sent me a short note to say as much , maybe " hey i'm busy but i'll get back to you in a few days".
This never happens. No email bounce and no reply either.

I have heard of others that have the same issue with dealing with you Mr Decosta. Although i have heard some heartwarming stories and i have no doubt you are a busy man, but there is a thing called delegation !

So... even though my insurance company have agreed all the costs of replacing the parts/panels that have been damaged, I am now basically forced to take my panels to a body specialist for repair and respray (this time in white (-i like the idea of pearlescent white) simply because every couple of weeks the insurance company will ring and politely ask if i've heard from Vectrix. I haven't and i'll email again only to hear nothing.

Totally frustrated
Totally peeved off

So... I am giving up on Vectrix USA as a lost cause. Customer service to a country (NZ) with no dealers sucks.

I thought i was being an "early adopter" of this.
I have been an advocate of the brand whenever i can. (Despite who i work for)
I've poo pooed the shortcomings and even paid to import them at stupid cost to myself.

I hope i can keep mine running for a long as i can with the spares I have amassed from crashing one and I hope that i never need to contact Vectrix again as basically I know now its pointless and so incredibly infuriatingly frustrating.

Thanks Mr Decosta for making things far harder than they need to be

Hi Chris,

Have you considered importing your bits from Europe?

I found this very informative French site a while back... http://www.vectrix.fr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=107:prix-public-des-pieces-et-des-accessoires-vectrix&catid=9... ... but I have no personal experience of them.

Alternatively, the UK distributer, http://www.emissionsfree.co.uk/index.html ... would, I am sure, be able to supply you with whatever you need. They are very efficient.

Regards, Martin Winlow.

I have had a similar experience with Dana. I called him initially and was able to speak with him and all went well. However subsequent e-mails went without responses.

Ultimately when I needed to get back in touch with him I had to call him back on his cell. He was very friendly and helpful on the phone but it seems getting replies to e-mails may be a tad more difficult.

This allergy against emails is wide-spread among entrepreneurs in general. Phone contact is often the only way to get a response from them, but if even THAT is not possible you are out of luck...

Another vote for Emissionsfree, he has been very helpful to me on more than 1 occasion.

I have to say frustration had got the better of me. I'm not in anyway saying he's bad ONCE you get a response. Obviously phoning from the other side of the planet also has its problems.

However regardless of how busy someone might be. There is common courtesy. Why don't we all just ignore our inbox and see what happens in business !
