When I get asked about the speed , is it 40 or 50, I thought I saw somewhere people were going as fast as 50, but I just looked at http://www.revevllc.com and it says 40 - 45.

Highest confirmed speed I know of is usatracy at 46mph indicated, or 42mph corrected.
Personally I get 42mph indicated - however, I don't inflate my tires as high as usatracy and I recently noticed my back brake was binding slightly. Both of these will increase rolling resistance and thus reduce top speed. I'll post a revised top speed with the brake issue corrected.
BTW, rebbe reported 55 indicated but I find that hard to believe. If rebbe is reading this and would like to perform a simple retest that would be great.
Glossary ;-)
1) "confirmed speed" - measured on more than one occasion by the same person on the same XM2K
2) "indicated" - the stock tires result in a speedo that reads 10% too high (note that speedo's that read too high are a very common experience). The 10% was calculated by usatracy who also corrected it by fitting bigger tires (Michelin Boppers)
3) "corrected" - calculated as "indicated" minus 10% or measured on a bike with Bopper tires.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'm making some Flyers for the Renewable Energy Fair promoting V, and that's ususally the first question asked followed by how far will it go on a charge.
So I'll use the 40-45 then the yada yada about hills, weight and head wind.
BTW, over inflating the tires makes it feel like a completely different machine, but it's hard on the butt.

Great - care to share the designed flyers on the forum? They might be useful to others.
BTW, "How fast, how far, how much?" are the three defining questions of all EVs :)
I wrote an opinion piece for the local newspaper based around those questions applied to GM's now defunct EV1.
My ideal is that I want an 80mph capable 4 passenger car that can travel 100 miles on a charge and cost $20K or less.
Needless to say - I'm still waiting ;-)

`jdh2550_1,
Great, can you share the article with us?
I normally just login to the most recent home page, and print a good copy of it with a personal hand written invitation in the lower right hand corner where there is some space, send it to Kinko's and have 500 - 1000 copies based on the size of the event. Active forum topics and Recent blog posts that are shown get the most attention and questions, Currently there are 3 about XM-2000, so when they ask what is it, and how fast I have answers. My contact email is already showing as well as my screen name both are already highlighted.
I've been doing this for about 6 months, came from my Marketing study, which revealed so many people didn't know anything about PEV's other than a toy for kids. Every tine I go somewhere I get all these questions, and then they ask where can I learn more, never have a pen or paper, so I just give them a invitation and they can contact me if they have any questions. That's one reason I ask so many questions all over the place, someone has asked me.
I also post them where Treasurers hang out, Recycle Centers etc.
Right now Anti War Rallies are a good place due to the Oil debate.
Peace Out,
Gman

Unfortunately I did a google search and can't find the article online - it was written back in January - so I might try one of the internet "time machines" which archive old pages...

I have come to terms with the limitations of my XM2000. I live in a hilly town and weigh 200 lbs. Uphill speeds rarely exceed 15 mph. Driving past the gas station at any speed is fun. I am having a problem locating parts. Everything that I have ordered from API has been back-ordered. Any ideas?
