Hello Los Angeles Vectrix owner. I am trying to compile a list of public charging stations or outlets that are available in the Los Angeles area. Please give the name and address of location, and if possible number of outlets. Please only list active outlets that you have used within the last 6 months to keep the list fresh. Please do not list any inactive stations or outlet so viewers can quickly scan through the list in the event of an emergency. Thanks for your help in advance. Go Vectrix!

I wonder if the transformers that litter the cities have enough of a magnetic field so you could just set a coil next to them to get some juice. There on the side walks everywhere, some are pretty large suppling commercial establishments. If it worked I would just put a coil in a bag hanging off the side of the bike and lean the bike up next to the transformer.
I remember there was a guy in the news that had a dispute with the electric company because they installed a pole and transformer on his property without his permission. He took advantage of it by constructing a pole with a coil on it and pulled free power off it. Not sure what happened in the end.
Deron.
That's referred to as " Theft Of Electrical Energy", deron.
They can nail your for that ...!
You may find this has already been done. Here in the UK there is a webside that can be freely consulted and by looking at the Google Maps database, stop the nearest recharging points. Also individual users can joid up and get access to additional 'private' charging points only members can access. Might be worthwhile dropping them an email to see if they know or have plans for a US version?

Thanks buzby, the reason I am trying to compile the list for a/c outlet rather than an EV charging station due to most of the EV stations only has the EV specific plug and no a/c plug available. And I've noticed most of these EV charging station is always empty and inactive. Therefore I am trying to compile a list with a/c outlet for the Vectrix users. Thanks for the recommendation.

As you know, the Vectrix is supplied with a normal domestic plug. The EV site I mentioned has actually standardised on this format, even though their target market is EV's. They say the reason for this is that they estimate the number of EV customers with domestic plugs will be considerably greater than the 'industrial' 16 amp blue plug. Secondly, since the car-based EV's feature a socket ant not a plug, a connecting lead is required. Since this can have any type of plug/socket, Elektrobay have said common-sense dictates this should be domestic, as nobody is disadvantaged. Thirdly, since cars always have to carry an extension lead to connect to the socket, they've got the space to do so!
Add to this the fragmentation element - if individuals all round the US are maintaining their own lists, downtown LA, Daytona Beach, Las Vegas - how are users going to know where to look for them? A national organisation with the ability to pull them all together on a county and state wide basis would always get my vote as it would offer the best user experience. I'm not decrying your excellent idea, but EVs are on a roll, and we need to get big business interested in using their immense resources to put it all together!

Thanks Raymond for your informative and thoughtful comment.
So this leads me to the second question. A few of the EV charging station
only has the old EV industrial plug and does not have the standard a/c plug.
Who can we contact to have the standard a/c plug implemented.
Cheers!
