OK, here's your chance to brag on your begging, borrowing and bargaining skills...
Where did you buy your WE kit, and how much did you pay? The best price I've found is from Bernson EV but i know one of you has to have tracked down the sweetest deal possible - let's hear it!
I got my BD-36 from posting a wanted topic on the ES. Lightly used (~150mi) for I $154 shipped.

But that was just the wheel? nowhere left charging what I paid, $350 plus shipping of a hundred. Batteryspace had a good deal on the kit without a battery, but are awaiting more stock. Thier service and shipping time was spectacular. Java cycles has a good deal, the best on Ebay I belive, and claim to have the BL but are also awaiting the shipment for the BD. I'm not sure who else actually can sell you one today.

Actually several Ebay vendors that claim to still have em. Just find the one that says they can ship tomorrow before you buy.

Yes, I bought on Ebay, for $399 shipping included,
but it took a month to get to me, and numerous emails.
So make sure the vendor has it in stock, and can give you a firm ship date,
and tracking number.
My BD36 came from Bernson EV, $329 plus I think about $40 to ship back in April. They went up $40 on the kit two weeks later. They haven't had any in stock for a while. Dennis @ Bernson EV (I think he is Bernson) says it's a bad idea for me to up the voltage. I'll find out this weekend.
Gasoline? No thanks.

Yar. I paired it with a $30 controller and the batteries ripped out of my skateboard. Then I refinished it, stuck it in a 20" wheel and abused the hell out of it.
Someday, I may do similar to a BL-36. *strokes beard*

Here is a site not usually frequented that says they have supply at good prices. Don't know but it's worth a shot if you're in the market ( dogman :)

This looks like a pretty good deal:
WE with 10Ah Li-Ion kit:

How do you think this compares to a similar kit (w/o battery) + a Ping battery?
On thing nice about this kit is that everything plugs into everything else....
Thanks
Ask em to sell you the kit without the battery and get a Ping. I would rather have Lifepo4 than a li-ion. Even if they aren't the kind that explode, I believe the Lifepo4 is expected to go more cycles. Get the real Ping, we know how he does buisness. Others we are still waiting for the guinea pigs to report. 1100 trouble free miles on my Ping so far. Ping sends pretty good wiring directions and a charger plug with the batt.

Thanks for your opinion, Dogman. I think I will do the Ping thing. Last email with him said it's best to wait till after the Olympics for lower shipping cost. It's hard to wait, but I think I will...
One other thing. I know that the battery packs eventually degrade in performance. Do you see any advantage with going with a 48V system, so that as it degrades, you still have decent performance? (I'm guessing the Life's degrade primarily in the voltage area...) What are your feelings to this approach?
1100 miles..sheesh, that's great
