Magnet??? What is the purpose? (BionX question)

First, off I'm glad I came across this forum. There is little information in the user guide and the internet on the BionX conversion kits, so this forum will be very valuable.

Anyhow, I recently got the BionX PL350 that came installed already on a Montague bike. When I first attempted to ride it, for some reason it was stuck in the generative mode. After fiddling with it, I determined that the wire from the magnet (under the brake lever) needs to be disconnected from the console.

1. What is the purpose of this magnet under the brake lever?

2. When should it be connected to the console? I'm sure it has a function.

Cheers

Re: Magnet??? What is the purpose? (BionX question)

The magnet is place in proximity to the wire/sensor you mention. When the sensor is in proximity to the magnet the regen is off. When you squeeze the brake the sensor is moved away from the magnet and regen engages. It is possible that the magnet merely got nudged out of position. Regen is not critical to the Bionx system, but it sure is nice once you get used to it.

Hey,

Thanks a lot! Yep, moving the magnet closer to the sensor did it! Thanks!

Cheers
