I'm sure Proton from FalconEV will stop by here and give us the full run down...
It certainly looks interesting (visually and technically).
Hey John-- thanks for digging this up for us. It looks really promising and it is very exciting to get the EV scooter market
into the all wheel drive phase. Seems they could have just made a larger wattage motor on back. Why would 2 motors be better? Seems like it would just be that much more complicated (dual controllers wires etc)from a no nothing guy like me. They left out the aerodynamics
at least on the front which will make a significant difference when the scoot is going over 50mph. However I sure would like to try one out. Best to all you guys....Mikie

I assume you saw this via wwwatts.net? ;-) yeah, that looks like a cool bike. It also looks incredibly familiar, like one that I believe ArcticFox posted several months ago.

I have actually driven a 2 hub motor electric scooter, it was a predecessor to the EVT-4000.
This was in China back in 1998 when they were developing the motors.
I can not see any real benefits with this either...maybe on icy roads...
Wouldn't two motors have some thermal benefit? Two smaller motors would have more surface area than a single larger one, and be better able to dissipate heat?
Clearly there is some traction benefit to AWD, more than just icy roads. I've felt a little slippage on both wet pavement and dry dirt when riding my big gas scooter. Of course, it's easier to slip when your power-to-weight ratio is high, and these electric scooters aren't exactly high-performance bikes yet.
My electric vehicle: CuMoCo C130 scooter.
Isn´t heat really a sign of bad efficiency?
A well designed/built motor shouldn´t get very hot, not even at high loads.
Does 2WD really work in the same way as 4WD in slippery situations?
I think the balance issue might complicate it...
Regards
Johnny
Looks like the gas version of the 250cc Honda Ruckus.
Yep
2 motors does what one motor can't
Increased acceleration and torque. Hills not a problem anymore.
Increased efficiency as each motor does not need as big a current compared to a single motor.
Easier on the battery
Just got back from the test ride, Performance is amazing, close to a Vectrix,
windshield will be added, large pizza carry size cargo box optional
Due out late 2009
Price - around $8+K
The LiFepo4 BattMan www.falconev.com
That's only around $2K too much ;)
Just kidding! Consider it friendly rivalry. I wish you luck with this bike. Competition is a good thing - right?

I own a 2wd electric motorcycle. It was made by Zap model mbz eoz series. I bought it at auction and all it needed was new batteries and a tire. Until I fried the controls by hooking batteries up wrong. Now it is difficult finding parts that were predominantly made by wuxi angell. It was a great bike with 48v to each motor stock. Trail riding was way better than on my narrow tire stealth.
