Electric scooter regulations in France

Hi all

I've just moved to France and thinking about purchasing an electric scooter, however, I'd like to know what the regulations are. Eg...taxes, registration etc. I don't have a driving license.

My french isnt good enough hence this question.

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Electric scooter regulations in France

Also, I;d like to know which scooter to get. Looking for a retro style (although EVT 4000e seems decent) scooter with 45km/30mph speed with decent technical support in France.

Thanks

Re: Electric scooter regulations in France

Hi,

In France you have 3 differnt categories of scooters :
-small scooters (under 45km/h speed) : no driving license required, you just need to register (free of charge) and get insurance of course
-medium scooters (125cc scooter about 100km/h speed) : car driving license or motorbike license required
-large scooters (above 125cc) : motorbike license require

So yes you can go to an EVT 4000 for instance. If you are located in paris, I can help you to find a scooter if needed.
