Update on Payton Drive, Electric Drive/suspension/braking module

HI all,

I just thought I'd give an update on the development of the electric drive/suspension/braking module. We're making progress on designing a pair of prototype modules for a light tech. demonstrator vehicle.

Here's the link to our page: https://sites.google.com/a/uw.edu/e-dubs/

Re: Update on Payton Drive, Electric ...

Nice one .i actually thought that an old british company hade thought of this idea first....????

carn't remember the the companys name but will try to do a little more research the companys made .

Lots of little vehicle that carried freight . parcels letters on the train platforms of train stations all around the country of

England. also do belive that loads of enginering companys and cadburys used these too.
The year was aprox 1935/1945 onwards.

Re: Update on Payton Drive, Electric ...

I'd be more than surprised to see that this has already been done in this form. That's not because it's particularly advanced, but because it's pretty much the holy grail of electric drive vehicles: a single compact unit that gives the benefits of a wheel-motor without the drawbacks. If it was old, I wouldn't think Michelin would go through the trouble of re-inventing it.

If you can find it, I'd very much love to see it.
