EV Global Survey for Parts Needs

Hi,

They still manufacture EV Global ebikes (probably not by that name) in Indonesia and parts can be imported but there are minumum purchase requirements. Also, I've located a company overseas that has a lithium battery of the same dimensions as the EV Global battery. Again there are minimum purchase requirements.

I'd like to develop a list of potential parts buyers. I' m thinking more of a cooperative purchasing program rather than a business to keep prices low.

If you have an EV Global ebike please take the survey at this link or pass it on to anyone you know who has an EV Global ebike
Thanks

Electric Hub Motors ... ???

I'm really a dummy when it comes to anything mechanical or electrical! What would be a good choice for an electric motor for my Electra Townie ... ???

I need to keep the gears that came with my bicycle, so I can still ride my bicycle with no motor as often as possible. I need the exercise and enjoy riding, but also need to commute to various job assignments where there is no bus service, and too far for me to pedal (10-15 miles each way).

Hall-effect throttle question

I have a low-traffic commute and I tend to hold my e-bike's throttle at a single setting for most of the ride.
So I would like to use a simple potentiometer to set the speed during cruising
and use an SPDT switch to select between the thumb throttle and the potentiometer.

So my question is: could replacing the Hall-effect throttle with a potentiometer harm my controller?
I'm not sure how it could.. but I want to ask in case someone has already tried this experiment.

The controller just expects a voltage between 0V and 5V to control the speed.. right?

Giant Lafree E-Bike battery monitoring circuit board

I am trying to locate a battery monitoring circuit board that fits in the bottom of the case or a complete case if anyone could help me please, I live in the UK?

Advice/Comments on a Tres Terra Europa

I read the comments here: http://visforvoltage.org/forum/2372-thinking-about-buying-tres-terra

But wondered if anyone has comments on USED Europas. One for sale locally for $400.00 that claims to have 5,600 commuting miles, at 18 miles a day. Seller says the battery is tired, but still makes his commute. I would very much value personal experience comments, but appreciate any and all advice.

Another newbie lost in life!

Hi all,

I am going to do my first ebike and have been reading through the site and visiting the vendors you have listed. After a couple of weeks I am confused and have a headache lol. I will be commuting about 13 miles each way to work for a total of 26 miles. I am able to charge at work and I weigh 180. I was hoping for 25-30 MPH but cost is a factor. I live in NY, long island area and will be doing this in the winter, does the cold affect the batteries?

Has anyone done buisness with http://www.e-bikekit.com

Please help! LiFePo4 from China to fit in triangle?

El cheapo, here. Want the best but not to pay for it.... Finally, after 9 months of research, I decided I needed a crystalyte 400 series, but then bought for cheaper on eBay a rear wheel kit 48V 500W. When it arrived I saw that it's from Golden Motors... No documentation, and lots of wires. Well, first I need a battery! The seller recommended a 48V 10AH LiFePo4 battery. I'd like to spend under $400, but will go as high as $500, and I'd like it under 11 lbs.

Question about 36v battery and controller for 24v motor

I'm getting into really unknown territory, (for me anyway) in that I bought a 36v 20ah ping that I will be receiving shortly and I want to find out what kind of controller I should get. This is for a Giant LaFree that has a 24v system. I'm wondering if I can use the oem 24v throttle, or do I need to get a new 36v throttle to match the controller. I'm looking to simplify the system to a certain extent in removing the speed limitation and probably the torque sensor on the transmission. So inputs would be from the brake switches and throttle.
