Battery, controller and motor selections

Hello All,

I am putting together an e-bike that will be a commuter bike that will carry some cargo (a few bags of groceries) for at least 20 miles of range at 20 mph with some pedal assist from me. There will be a few hills along my regular routes. I am wondering if the kit that I have selected below will work for my needs.

I am considering the BMC hub motor with a 36v-25a controller: http://www.comcycle-usa.com/ProductInfo.aspx?id=4855834

DIY customized frames ... or DIY bicycle customization

Came across this instructable item and it made me think of a book I bought recently.

http://www.instructables.com/id/How_To_Build_Your_Own_Pedicab/

The instructable goes over how to build a frame to tow behind a bicycle, the frame has a bench seat, and you could set up a "pedicab" business that way. The author of the instructable did so himself.

I could use a little help "Newbie"

Hi there, I am building my first e-bike. I will be using a 1000W 36V electric motor, A 36 Volt 1000W Universal Speed & Voltage Controller, and Hand Throttle - 36 Volt 4 Wire with LED Meter. I have 3 12V lead acid batteries wired in series giving 36V. The problem is with the throttle which has 4 wires to connect it, they are RED, BLACK , YELLOW , and Green. While the "Universal" controller has only 3 connections which are Red, Black, and Blue labeled for the throttle or TO PUT connector.

Robobike Custom Electric

Hi
Has anyone built the battery powered recumbent kit from Robobike?

Seems pretty easy and a perfect beginner project.

Thanks

2004 Boulder, Suggestion?

Hi,

I'm converting my Giant 2004 boulder to electric using the Amped Bike Kit. The frame is steel, but the fork is a suspension fork with aluminum drop outs. I will be using a Lifepo4 battery. I have two options:

1) Front hub kit and buy a steel rigid fork

2) Rear hub kit

What would be better for commuting to work on city streets/sidewalks year round?

If I have to go with a rear hub kit what is involved with installing it? I've heard you have to bend the frame. I don't want to do that.

Thanks!

ev-12 custom bicycle

This is one of the vehicles I saw at the Palo Alto EV Rally, http://ev-12.blogspot.com/

He said the build itself took about 2 weeks. It's a chopped up and rewelded bicycle, an etek motor, 4x 12v 18ah batteries. The bicycle wheels are extra beefy with beefy spokes, and the frame probably a bit beefed up.

Veloteq

Hi I bought a kaishan k500w about a month a go.Now I quite enjoyed it, speed is good, needs a bit more toqure uphill but was overall a good bike.I had a few minor issues with it,right mirror fell off ,lens on rear turn signal fell off, front break grabbed and cut power to motor and spedo said 55 when my iphone gps said about 32kph.So While under warranty took it in for repairs.A couple days later got a phone call telling me that a weld on the frame has cracked. Now I am 225lbs And after doing some more research found this is a commom problem with the extreme 508?

Electrical Diagram for GT-S210 Electric Bike (Canadian Tire - Strong EMB)

I have a GT-S210 Electric Bike (Canadian Tire - Strong EMB)
I am trying to find a schematic electrical diagram for the bike.
Also interested in finding a source for parts (battery, hand brake electric switch, etc.)

The front electrics seem to have an intermittent loose wire and I am trying to troubleshoot it but it's not making sense!
The headlight and battery power meter are off, but the bike runs fine. Sometimes when I steer left the light will flicker ON.

eGo brake/tail light problem and replacement of fixture

Hi,

We have an eGo Cycle 2 LX and generally love it. The problem with this vehicle is that it is a rigid, and so the brake/tail light gets too much jarring from the road. I have broken (not burned out) two bulbs (the filaments) in the past 2-3 years. egovehicles.com wants $10.00 per bulb, which I view as patently ridiculous. The whole bike runs on a 24 volt system, and, of course, the bulbs are near impossible to find in the US. It would be less expensive for me to order a pack of 10 from the UK.
