XB 500 speedometer mod

Hello, I was wondering if anyone that has an XB 500 in the US has been able to change the speedometer from kmh to mph. Also, has anyone that has the said scooter been bothered by the police for having a kmh speedometer instead of mph. What concerns should I have regarding this matter. Thanks.

Tricycle?

I have a extra Giant LaFree Pedelec and I have been thinking of ways I could change or modify it so it would be useful to me. One idea was to change it into a trike. Has anyone had any experience with tricycles and can explain the advantages or drawbacks? Is there a kit that would work on my bike.

Thanks, Deron.

Hi-PowerCycles.com - Are these bikes good? up to 72 Volts!

The electric bicycles offered at
http://www.hi-powercycles.com/product.sc?categoryId=2&productId=4
seem awesome ... but I haven't heard of these guys.

Here's a YouTube video of one of the bikes.

I'm curious if anyone here knows if these guys or their bikes are any good.

Some of the options run up to 72 volts! Wow!

The need for speed?

Of you guys that modified your bikes for added speed, what was your experiences? Was it worth it? Did you kill the range running at the higher speeds? Burn up any parts? Close calls or any accidents? Police pursuits :)

Thanks, Deron.

Is it me or does this look almost exactly what a production version of the fammed "Dirt Monkey" would look like?

This looks so much like the Dirt Monkey bike I've seen in all the online videos. Does anyone know any background info on this bike?

can I / should run 36V or 48V through a 24V Henzmann???

I have a virtually new-condition Iacocca E-Bike with a 24V Heinzmann hub motor - my first foray into ebikeuniverse. It's very cute but is totally underpowered from a utilitarian standpoint, and furthermore it's slow as the dickens - after about 12 mph the motor can't contibute anything and it's just me pedaling a 67lb bike. Since more V = more motor speed (I think) I had the notion of simply adding two more 12V batteries to give me 48V.

need some wiring help

I bought a used electric wheel on ebay (what a mistake....) when i got it it didnt work and there was no wiring diagram or any recognizable info other than a lot of chinese writing on the wheel.

I finally found a similar controller that looks nearly the same as mine. it looks very similar to this one that i found on ebay.

this is what my controller looks like.

Gear Reduction units? Where to get?

I'm trying to find some gear reduction units and thought you guys would already have the low down on them. I've tried searching and only came up on the CVT attempt. Man that sounds like a good idea if you could get it to work efficiently enough.

Thanks ahead of time guys!

"Crank drive" or internal hub? Which to choose

I am new to this game and would like some advice. I live in Seattle, which has significant hills, and lots of rain. I weigh about 210, and am an avid human-powered cyclist. I don't mind pedaling, but my goal is to replace some 10-15 mile cargo-hauling errand trips for which I currently use my car - e.g. the awkward 4 bags of groceries and a can of paint. My criteria are a range of 15 miles with an average speed of 10 mph with a bike trailer.

Anyone here hack/tweak a Mongoose CX200??

I've looked through the whole site and didn't find any info on this, so I'm posting it up...

Anyone know if it has the same motor as all the other currie scooters? I'm thinking of getting one and changing out the motor/controller/batts.

Thoughts, info?

Thanks guys!

Can't wait for the LiFePO batts to come down in price!
