Help with Extreme 508

After almost a year of riding and about 1000 miles I had my first issue with my Extreme 508. When accelerating from a stop, the 30 amp fuse blew leaving me pusing the bike. Afer locating and replacing the fuse the new fuse immediately blew (the key wan't even in the ignition). I removed the battery, replaced the fuse "box" since it had melted and looked for any obvious shorts in the wiring that would have caused the fuse to blow, no luck. Then I put in a new fuse and plugged the battery in just to have the fuse blow again. Any thoughts?

I just had the same problem yesterday with my xb 500, I was at a stop then started to go and make the turn and lost all power and pushed the bike half a mile home. I'm thinking its the fuses but I'm confused on how to get to the fuses? What side is it on? Should I do the shunt mod thing? That one woman did and had picures of. It sure is a big hassel to get to the fuses. If changing the fuse doesn't work I will call tech support to see if my bike has a bigger problem. When your bike lost power did anything work? Everything went dead on mine. When I tryed to just charge it again a "pop sound" happened and it was just green light but nothing was working. Wouldn't that be wonderful if tech support came to your home to fix the problem...........tonya :)

Ok my problem is fixed.......... I had loss of all power after hitting bump in the road, I went to go turn and lost all power and pushed bike home. So last night a guy friend of mine came to look at it. He took all screws out of the battery compartment area looked at the battery connections they were fine, then he tried taking the battery compartment out of the boxed area he gave it a small tug and it came out, although when he did that we noticed the battery pack had one main plug in. When he pulled he unpluged this main black power cord, the ONLY main black power cord that goes to the battiery. He then said "maybe the power cord was loose." He then put the battery box back into its place, put on all screws in then reached around the right side of the bike behind the battery compartment plugged in the main power cord to the battery and made sure it was in all the way. I turned bike on and everything worked. :)

I wish mine was that simple. I took the seat off and located the fuse, definately blown. I lost all power too. I can't seem to find the short, so I'm going to bring it into the shop this week. I'm tired of not having my bike with gas prices on hte rise!

Have you called tech support? Do you have the XB 508? My bike comes with two fuses and I didn't have to take anything apart to get to them and chech them there located under the front wheel one on each side. I wonder why yours would be so hard to get too? I heard riding these kind of bike up hills makes the fuses blow. Did you replace the fuses and it just keeps blowing?

:)

Tech support finally got back to me and said I needed a new controller. I ordered one yesterday and am just waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully it works!

I wonder how easy contollers are to replace? I'm glad you found out whats wrong. So when fuses keep blowing its the controller. That is good to know. Let me know how the install of a new one goes. :) T.

My new controller finally arrived. They sent me one for the XB-600, but it had all the same connections as my 508 so who am I to complain. It took about 20 minutes to install and seemed to work fine until I almost got to work, then the power kept cutting in and out. I made it back home and took the seat off again and noticed a pinched wire. The 600 controller is slightly bigger so I had to re-mount it to make sure the seat didn't pich any wires. After re-mounting the controller I've taken it on two trips around town with no issues! I hope it continues working trouble free.
