PowerGenix NiZN batteries

I just learned of PowerGenix, who is developing a Nickel Zinc battery (NiZN). It's interesting to see a new company try and develop this chemistry, after the spectacular failure of Evercel. PowerGenix is working in a joint venture with a Chinese company, and it's not clear whether their JV partner is the company which had previously partnered with Evercel. As I recall that Chinese company had survived the death of Evercel, and they had some level of rights to the Evercel technology.

Re: PowerGenix NiZN batteries

Is that the same as these btteries?

I found them on the Falcon EV website(http://www.falconev.com/batteries.html) and I was wondering if they were worth the money.

Re: PowerGenix NiZN batteries

That's kind of my question tooo... yeah, they're the same chemistry. But the company names are different (Evercel != PowerGenix) and the corporate locations are different (Connecticut != San Diego) and the management teams are different and ...

FWIW there were a lot of problems with the Evercel batteries. I have no idea what it takes to keep them reliable.

Re: PowerGenix NiZN batteries

PowerGenix is NOT Evercel or any incarnation of the former company. I work for PowerGenix and have since the start of series A funding. We have never had any relationship with Evercel or their former contract manufacturer. PowerGenix's current CM is a Chinese company called Corun. This is publicly available information. There are no ties between Evercel and Corun or PowerGenix.

PowerGenix cells are cylindrical while Evercel's were prismatic. PowerGenix does not use the same underlying components as Evercel, it is a completely different design.

Re: PowerGenix NiZN batteries

Welcome, and I am glad you have made this clarification.

I just looked over the powergenix website again to reacquaint myself with it. It appears that it's not possible to buy the batteries right now, is that the case? Is there any timeline when they would be available? Are there plans to make them available direct to the public?
