Leland,

Great to hear it has arrived and I am looking forward to hear some reviews. I am curious to know what kind of speed and range you get from that limo.

Re: Leland's Limo has landed

Range - no idea, but I did six miles yesterday no problem. Craig said 10 miles and I'm inclined to believe him. As for speed, a driver yelled out to me while I was scooting that he was amazed I was going 30. And I had it no where near open throttled. I live in the city so I haven't been able to really open it up ... short blocks, red lights, and cobblestone streets.

I've gotten compliments every time I've taken it out. Several girls have squealed with delight as I've whizzed by. Granted, that happens to me no matter what I'm riding, but I think the scooter helped ;)

The scooter is awesome. I can really feel the power. My first scooter was an extreme x-900 and I loved it ... it was a great starter scooter for me. This one though has so much more raw heft and power.

I'll post a full review over the weekend.

Just to give some comfort to anyone out there thinking about buying a scooter from Craig (aka deafscooter), he is the real deal. The scooter he made is as amazing as I'd hoped! Also, I'm really happy just to have finally gotten the scooter. I must admit that I was worried when I sent Craig the first money order. He was some random guy on an internet forum with some unclear pictures and broken english that I was not able to meet or talk to. There weren't any reviews of his scooters, he wanted money up front, the first drawing he sent me looked like a cartoon ... the list goes on. But I took a risk and am happy I did. (I'm not sure I can say Craig can say the same - I am probably the most demanding, micro-managing customer he's ever had!) Anyways - if anyone is on the fence feel free to PM me as a reference.

What was the final price you paid? I'm just curious - because we've all followed the progress of the build...

Also, what's the final weight? Can you carry it up the stairs?

Thanks and I hope you enjoy your new ride...

Re: Leland's Limo has landed

Craig did some work for me awhile back and has assisted me with technical information over the years. That's why I have been following this project and commenting so much. He does excellent work and what he did for me has performed flawlessly. The motor he partially built for me runs like a swiss watch with none of the whine of a stock motor (Rad2Go) It's good to have Craig and others in this forum available for assistance. Chas Stevenson was also a tremendous help to me. (Hope the bickering dies down a bit between certain parties even if it is entertaining to read.)

Re: Leland's Limo has landed

Craig does do great work ... the machine hums beautifully. I have no idea about the technical details but for those who followed the build process you can see the attention to detail and hardcore engineering Craig puts into his projects.

The weight is like 170 pounds plus another 10 pounds for the lock. No doubt it is heavier than I originally asked Craig to make it. Fortunately though it is *just* barely under the weight I can carry up stairs. I am using a weightlifting wrist strap to hold on to the scooter ... my grip strength maxes out just under 150. It also feels right at the point where if it were any heavier I would need help hefting it into my car. As it is I was able to lift it with two hands over the lip of my trunk and slide it in. (The length and width were constrained by the size of the gap I'm fitting it through in my trunk.) So I'd say it's as heavy as it could feasibly be and still have the portability I wanted.

As for price - Craig asked me not to disclose the actual number. (Maybe due to the current infighting? ;) I will say that it was painfully expensive ... I could have bought a motorcycle for the amount I paid. Craig is definitely at the premium end of the market! I couldn't justify the purchase on an ROI basis like with my X-Treme 900, but Craig is selling to the part of the market that cares less about price than about having the best and baddest available. That said, if you tell him what you want Craig can give you options on the parts and whatnot that greatly affect the price.
