anyone fooled with the 500 or 650 Razor electric dirt bikes? What size chain do they run stock? I have a nice 900 watt Unite motor (the one you can adjust the timing on) and 48 volt 50 amp controller for a project, and thought one of these might be fun to play around with. Saw a posting at a modified scooter website, but they didn't give many details. how about room for 4 small batteries? They look more kid size than for adults. I'm 5'9" 165 pounds, I wonder If I could ride one, or if it would only fit my 12 year old son. I'd like to get it to go 25 MPH or so and climb hills decently.

The stock chain on the dirt bike line is that of all L-EV's now, #25 sized chain
Now about the batteries, sure you can fit up to 60volts into the larger dirt bikes but...Why? I dont recommend using 60volts of 12ah cells, every battery you cram into that china bike takes the life span out of the frame and that will make a nasty crash
************************************Buy a couple MX350's******************************
they are the only bike Razor makes that you can put almost any thing into(no front breaks though) As for the MX500 and the MX650 they have a direct motor mount made into the fram on both sides of the motor face plates. So dont think you will be able to plop that 900watt motor in the larger bikes. I have done modds to almost every bike razor makes, So take it from my short comings with the MX500/650 line that they both come up short on their ability
to be really done up with out a cut and weld deal.
Also Speed tests done with the MX line:(motor wattage changes when you add voltage)
*Speeds were done with gears to push the bike to the end of it's power*
(I used 13t,15t,18t with the stock 80t rear gear)
@48volts
MX-350: 39mph(on flat road, 1375watt motor)
MX-500: 32mph(on flat road, 750W motor(stock motor))
MX-650: 34mph(on flat road, 900W motor(stock motor))
@36volts
MX-350: 28mph(on flat road, 500watt motor(stock motor))
MX-500: 18mph(on flat road, 500w stock motor)
MX-650: 18mph(on flat road, 650w stock motor)
@24volts
MX-350: 14mph(on flat road, 350w stock motor)
this is the MX350 modded with out welding a thing!
It topps out on hilly grass at over 19mph! you wont see that with the stock MX650 EVER!
I just Re-laced my first spoked wheel! and it was trued by spinning it in my hand
did you change the controller when you raised the voltage? What set up on the 350 were you the most pleased with-give me as many details ads possible? Any way to rig a front brake up?
Thanks for the info so far
I also noticed Currie makes a 450 watt 20 inch wheel dirt bike in the Mongoose line that looks interesting. On sale now for $299 shipped

"did you change the controller when you raised the voltage? What set up on the 350 were you the most pleased with-give me as many details ads possible"
Yes, you should always change the controller out if you increase the voltage, but for the most part most controllers(stock) can be bumped up an extra 12volts with out cooking..
but for the most part, you need Amp's(better batteries) and a bigger motor
To get a front break on that bike(MX-350) you will have to put a MX500 front end on it, I did it a couple nights ago and it works great

btw mr.exon what did you change to the mx350 when you made it to 36v..??
i am asking because id like to try it myself so i can use it offroad.
please help soon
Thanks
btw are you on PBP??
Jake
I just added another batter to the bike! sure you will need a charger, but for the most part the Razor controller work a little hot bumped 12volts.
you gain 6-10mph over stock, but if you add in a 40-50amp controller, the bike will go a bit faster on take off!
as for PbP, yes I am a member under a couple names, if your smart you can find me as my new name...but fearing getting banned again for something I did like 4 years back I dont give it out any more. They hate me on that forum because I called out a bible hugger and I told him in a very loud rage what was on my mind and well the owners that stole the PBP domain name from Marcello(the real guy behind that forum that made it and ran it originally, oh bu\y the way thank him for bringing the sport to the USA) did not like what I said and have been banning me every time I pop up on there....that is no problem to me, I just call up my internet provider and reset my ISP, LoL I also have a cloaking program as well, but I really think that is hacking and well I dont want to be in any real trouble...PbP should love me for still getting on that forum, I am but a few smart people on that forum in the EV section. Trust me I dont doubt it!

Can you please help me. i have an mx500 and i just bought a 750 watt motor for it. if i just put in the motor and nothing else would it go any faster. also if it wouldnt than can you list everything i'd need to purchase in order to get it going faster.
thanks
My brother has an mx350 bike by razor and i need to know how to add voltage. I have like, no clue what so ever!
you need to add a battery (in series) to add 12 volts. 2 batteries will add 24 volts. This means you need to find a way to mount the batteries, and wire them into the existing pack correctly. The stock controller may not be able to handle the extra voltage, and may burn out after a short while. Most people go ahead and get a controller rated for the higher voltage. TNC scooters has them all the way up to 60 volts now. This usually means having to custom wire up the replacement controller,(as the connections are usually different) which isn't rocket science, but is something that people can have trouble doing correctly.
Also, the brushes in the motors will wear out faster at higher voltage, and you risk burning them up as well if you run the voltage up too high and run the bike at high speeds for prolonged periods of time.
I just bought my 10 year old an mx350. I bought it with full intension to modify it. He weighs 62 lbs and the terrain it will be ridden on is very hilly. Im concerned with 2 aspects of performance. Torque and battery longevity.
As long as it will go 12-15 mph then speed is no issue.
Here is my plan so far. Please point me in the right direction if im off course.
For starters I want to try 36v instead of 48v.
(1) 500w 24v motor with attached motor mount from TNC. part # 106121
(2) 36v 40amp controller not sure which one due to throttle wire differences
(3) stock mx500 throttle
(4) 12v 18ah sla batteries x3
(5) find a larger than 80t rear sproket but seems none are available for #25 chain.
Any help finding better direction with this plan will be much appreciated. Note I do already have a 700 watt 36v motor set aside but no plans to use it unless it will benifit me. I would rather use the 4 bolt factory mount that the 500w comes with. Also note my son is a destroyer and will not likely monitor component temps. Oh I also have 3 stock type 12v 7ah batteries as well.

Does anyone come to this board anymore?? Im hoping to get an opinion soon so I can order some parts and get this kid on the new improved bike.
Kurt
I just bought a Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket from here and wanted to know if anyone could help me with finding some fat tyres to modify my bike with. Please make suggestions affordable I have saved up my birthday money for this.
Thanks, James.
Peace
Yeah Baby Razor MX650 Bikes Rock....
I just did the same thing to my red/white Venom Dirt Bike.
Works like a charm. Thank you so much!
PS: I chose a Venom bike over the cheap little Razors because I've owned 2 Razors before and they break way too easily. The Venom bike is stronger and works like a charm.
Bought it from here if anyone is interested: https://www.belmontebikes.com/collections/dirt-bikes/products/electric-dirt-bike-motorcross-500w?variant=18282229953
and they gave me free shipping! :D
