Re: Got My XM-2000 VIN and MSO Today

I got my VIN and MSO a few days ago as well. However I currently have my CA moped registration pending so I first want to see how that goes before I try to use the VIN and MSO.

As a sidenote, Cathy with X-treme called me today and asked how my registration went. Apparently they are collecting feedback from each of their XM-2000 customers on their registration experience.

Kringle, what's your plan? Are you going to try out the stuff they sent?

`No one can call anyway until Monday, so if he has not received the promised paperwork by then, what is your suggestion he should do.

X-Treme site
Street Legal: Can Register In CA or FL

Spike resides in FL correct?

Put yourself in his shoes, wouldn't you want your fellow Community Members to do what ever they could to help you after paying almost $2000 for something you still can't legally ride and enjoy? In Spike's case he needs it to get to work to earn a living and support his Family.

If he doesn't have what he needs by Monday morning I for one will call Cathy and complain, because he is a fellow Community Member. Part of our problem is we don't stand together, so we will continued to be ignored.

Spike - you bought from xtreme(ly bad) to save a few dollars. Well, you got what you paid for. Just admit it, you got screwed. Your best bet now is to try and sell it on ebay. Better yet, call usa tracy, he'll buy it for sure. Just make sure he gives you full price for it.
Oh, and by the way, I DO live in Florida...

Spike no problem, at the end of the day we're all still fellow community members with different opinions, and ways of doing things. Good heated debates are expected every now and then, that's what makes V so great.
We're doing no more the our Presidential Candidates are currently doing, and when they walk on stage together at there Convention, they raise there hands together and all is forgiven. So you have not cause a problem, you inspired a good healthy debate we all learned something from, and that's the whole purpose of many of us being here to learn more.
It would be nice if you posted a follow up for others residing in FL that may be interested in purchasing a XM-2000 or something similar, so they would know what documentation they may need before going to there DMV.
So will you be able to re charge it at the Marina ok?
Be sure to check out the many good XM-2000 tips posted here by XM-2000 owners, it may save you some time.

Re: Got My XM-2000 VIN and MSO Today

Spike,
Glad everything seems to be now working out for you. So how many days are left on your warranty?
I'll be in your area latter this week for the game, and plan to check back here to see if you are having any additional problems.
Peter has been selling Scooters since about 2004, and knows the business pretty well, so I'm glad it's all finally cleared up.

Re: Got My XM-2000 VIN and MSO Today

In order for the bikes to be registered the dealer has to make certain filings in some states, as you well know having been through this nightmare already in 2007 with your XM-2000.

If X-Treme were to execute the filings in order for the XM-3000 to be registered, then by default, you would FINALLY be able to register your XM-2000. That is ONLY if X-Treme does the filing, a DEALER doing the filing for an XM-3000 will not allow YOU to register your XM-2000 unless you sell it to him and buy it back.

From what we are seeing so far, I would not hold my breath on either bike in Florida, and perhaps other states. Not unless a local FLorida rep is going to sell the XM and go through all of this, which will drive the bike price up from the $2,000 advertised price.

It appears that they may have learned a little from the last go round and this time they are changing their relationship with those that sell their bikes. This will undoubtedly move the responsibility for these dealer filings in FL NY and CA from X-Treme, to each and every dealer that sells the bikes, perhaps without the dealer realizing it until the sale is done and the bike is delivered.

Then, post sale, when a resident from FL NY or CA tries to register and ends up in the situation you found yourself in during 2007, one phone call to X-Treme most likely will have them telling you to "call your dealer" as it is not their responsibility to execute the filing as they are only a distributor.

Hopefully, if this is accurate and is the case, each of these "dealers" has the financial and legal resource required to fulfill these legal post sale obligations lest they find themselves in a very bad predicament with the possiblity that they themselves are paying the bills to buy back and transport these bikes back out of these states and to their own place of business. In some cases, it may be illegal to have sold the bike and deliver it only to find out the proper state filings were not in place prior to sale.

NovaScooters, through our partner network, has the proper paperwork in place for NY, FL and CA, but we don't market there at this time.

Even EVT-A, which is located in Florida, has found that they lack the proper filings and at least one EVT-A'r has been unable to register due to this and is now looking to sell his new bike on Craig's list.

The moral of the story is, research all of this BEFORE you buy, just because the website says it can be registered in any/all states does not make it so.

X-Treme still carrys the XM-2000 on their website even though it has been out of stock for some time, and that site STILL says the bike can be legally registered in FL and CA, which you yourself know is not the case.

Of course, their site also says the XM-2000 goes 45 to 50 mph :)
