Which Schwinn/Currie Scooters still have the direct chain drive?

Hi,

I own a Currie Flyer SE from 2001 that freewheels.
I noticed all the new Currie/Schwinn Models have this new direct drive garbage that doesn't freewheel and also shuts off if you go over a speed limit.
I think the Schwiin S-750 from 2006 still has the chain.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks.

Jim

Re: Which Schwinn/Currie Scooters still have the direct chain

I can't say for the stated 2006 Schwinn model. But, after some browsing here: Thesuperkids.com I noticed that all the GT brand models use chains (these look just like the curries). And the Schwinn S650 and lower power seem to have chains.

The Schwinn s180, s350, s500,s600, and s750('05 model) all use chain drives, but they are still direct drive in a way as they use motor breaking. Meaning no freewheel STUPID CURRIE!

Yep, that's why I ruled out the Curries when I was shopping for my scooter. Coasting with a freewheel saves a lot of battery life and is just plain fun to boot.
