Zapino battery replacement

I found these batteries:
http://www.gd-battery.com/ois/usersites/longhui1/productdetail.jsp?id=426192&userId=longhui1&visual=-1

They appear to be the same size as the greensaver batteries that come with the zapino but these are LiFePO4. Could I switch these with the lead acid batteries that came with the zapino? WOuld it work??

Re: Zapino battery replacement

I'm not sure. Some questions to find the answers to:

- Does the Zapino controller have an over voltage cut off? If so then what voltage will five of these batteries put out?
- What are the max amps drawn by the Zapino? What is the rated current and peak amp draw for these batteries?
- Do you have a way of charging the batteries?
- Do you have any form of battery management system that would work with these batteries?

BTW, do you know what the price of these batteries are?

Good luck!

Re: Zapino battery replacement

Hi folks,
I could not get that link to work. BUT--
Has anyone had any experience with these?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsAGqXCsg7M

The original battery pack on my Zapino is down to about half-capacity, and this is my only powered vehicle, these days. I have looked at Thundersky, Elite Power Solutions, etc, but these are a little too tall. Unfortunately, I can't do the modifications to the scooter to accommodate these.
The 40-AH "Smart Battery" looks to be the almost perfect solution. "Almost" because the conversion would cost about twice as much as rolling my own.
Welcome any comments.
Cheers!

PS: A friend and I still have a boatload of Zapino body parts, headed for the landfill soon... Let me know your needs.

Re: Zapino battery replacement

Did you consider all possible cell arrangements? The only prohibited mounting orientations for most Chinese prismatic lithium cells is upside down and laying "flat".

Re: Zapino battery replacement

The more I think about it, it may be just one or two bad batteries. Speed drops and then holds mostly steady for a while. It's just that I hate taking the thing apart over and over. Recently replaced the controller. Forgot to check individual batteries.
