Also,

Recommendations on Brushless vs Brushed ?

The brushless are more expensive.

I can overvolt the Brushed too to 48 Volts or more ?

Re: Wilderness Energy 36 Volt

I've never done business with the eBay seller, but I did get a few things (20" rim and brush assy) from werelectrified. I didn't have to communicate with anyone so I can't speak for their customer support (though I've heard there is virtually none), but they shipped my stuff stupidly fast. Like I think it got here two days after I ordered it. :o

The brushed hub will take 48V no problem. There's a guy who runs his at 60V and I actually run mine a 72V, but I wouldn't recommend that unless you know what you're doing.

Re: Wilderness Energy 36 Volt

Thanks again Link.

Yet another question.

How are the hub motors in the rain ?

It rains a lot where I live,
so I'll have to ride in the rain, if it is a daily commute.

Re: Wilderness Energy 36 Volt

For brushed hub kit, batteryspace.com seems to be cheapest, but it comes without batterys or bag. Perfect if you are going lithium anyway. After that, Cloud EV has a pretty good deal, comparable to EBays best price. Werelectrified is a fine dealer, though support goes directly to Wilderness Energy. I suspect that will be true of all vendors. Werelectrified raised prices a lot with the new shipment of stock this spring. It's supposed to be improved product now. Cheaper prices may be the older stock from winter. You will need to waterproof a lot to ride in the rain. I seem to remember one guy had some issues with the steel parts inside of the hub rusting after a lot of wet riding. Plug connections can be taped or silicone caulked to prevent shorts. The controller is definitley vulnerable to water. Maybe some kind of fairing could be rigged to protect the throttle. Brushed is a good cheap way to try out ebiking. They go faster than similar price brushless and climb hills good. you can realisticly expect 6 to 10 mile range out of 36 volt 12 ah lead batteries on the BD36 kit. 6 if you floor it, 10 at about 12-15 mph. Top speed is about 23-25 mph on flat ground. The brushles kits definitely last longer but go further mostly by being slower and less powerfull. That may have changed with the new kits, but I really don't know.

Re: Wilderness Energy 36 Volt

Thanks for your vendor suggestion and rain advice.
I didnt see this, and posted the question again, as I thought
it needed its own thread.
I also posted it to the Bikes and Ped forum,
but couldnt figure out how to delete the new one from here.
Sorry for the multiple postings.

Is there any way to seal the hub motor itself ?
Or is this even necessary.
I am concerned with rust I guess,
as some other person said that the front wheel locked up due to rust.

I might add, that my ride would be very hilly and wet,
so that's a lot of parameters for the motor to meet.
