battery wiring

Is there any problem with wiring a single 12 volt 10Ah battery cell (SLA) in parallel with the BD36 extended battery pack (36V, 10Ah) in order to add a little more range to my bike without changing the voltage at which the bike operates? Thanks for any input.

Re: battery wiring

DO NOT DO THAT ifyou conect them in parlell the 36V will dump into the 12v very fast and both batterys will burst anc cause an ARC BLAST !!

thank GOD I wake up above ground !!!!

Re: battery wiring

If you do, make a video of it for us to see. To extend the range you will need three more batteries to make another 36 volt pack. Or if you buy one battery, You can wire them series, for a 48 volt. Most of us that have done that have not blown the controller on We kits. For me it didn't work since I would go faster and run out in the same distance. But for those who actually have self controll, it would extend your range. If you really want range, make two 24 volt packs. The slow speed will make you go farther.

Hmm...sounds like fun. I think I'll try it.

Just kidding. Thanks for the warning.

I thought the 36v controller cuts out at 30v to protect the battery?
So 24v pack would not even work?

Re: battery wiring

My BD 36 works fine at 24, 36 or 48 volts. Maybe it's cutoff is much lower. For me it was too slow at 24 vlots and unable to climb the hill. Fortunately I was able to get my hands on a ping to get the range. I'm trying to be the common sense guy, since I am no electrical expert. I tried lots of stuff with my bike before I got out the charge card and threw money at my problem.
