G1 Electric Skateboard Mod

Here are some pics of my G1 mod.

Added new 36 volt controller.

Currently using 3 12Volt 4.5 Ah SLA batts,
but will soon be trying out 2 18 volt LiFePO4 batts from Dewalt packs.

Thumb throttle.

The big button is now a throttle kille switch.

I reduced the spring tension of the throttle, so it doesnt spring back,
I like it that way, so I can keep a constant speed without holding it in place.

Re: G1 Electric Skateboard Mod

LiFePo4 Rocks !!!

I just took 2 test drives and the combo of 36 volts and LiFePo4 is great.

I have enough torque now to get up some bigger hills.

While run time was only about 15 minutes, it seemed longer and more fun that
with 36 volts SLA.

It only took 1 hour to recharge, and I was rolling again on my 2nd test drive.

I think I should try and add 2 more 18 volt packs for more run time,
but there's prob only space for 1 more 18 volt pack.

As it is I am very happy with peformance.

Re: G1 Electric Skateboard Mod

I upgraded to 2 X 28 volt 2.4Ah Dewalt LifePo4 packs,
and went back to the 24 volt controller.

Runtime is now about 35 minutes.

Lots of fun, and still able to climb hills.

very nice mod! how fast does it go at 28v and 36v? can the stock controller handle upto 36v?

Re: G1 Electric Skateboard Mod

Yes, stock controller handles over 40 volts.

I measured the voltage and it was actually 41 volts.

Link has done 48 volts, but not sure if that was with the stock controller or not.

The caps are rated at 60 volts inside the stock controller.

I am not sure how fast I was going, as I didnt have GPS.

It is faster than for 24 volts, which is probably only going 8-10 mph.

My guess is that 28 volts is about 15 mph, and 36-41 volts is approaching 20mph.

36 volts is about as fast as you want to go though without a throttle control.
It's nice to be able to reduce speed when needed.

28 volts and 4.8ah is more than enough for 35 minutes of fun.
This includes really pushing the motor, and going up small hills.
I then cruise down the hills using limited power, and mostly gravity.

Re: G1 Electric Skateboard Mod

Just an observation, the 28 volt batteries were not hot after running for 35 minutes
at mostly full load.

The motor was quite hot to the touch though,
not sure that this is any different than for 24 volts.

Re: G1 Electric Skateboard Mod

I own a E-Skateboard, recently bought on Ebay from Justpal a seller that has a bunch of them and is lowering the price cause nobody is buying i guess.
As previously mentioned this is very similar or maybe the same as a G1-2000 from WTFF. The specs on the "E" say 120W and 200w or 220w for the G1. I'm not
sure if the motor is different or they just play with numbers. My "E" had bad batteries and i had to call justpal about 10 times to get working ones. The
replacements sent were pulled from another unit. This "E" is of very cheap quality, some parts fell off right the first week. So far I had replaced
the deck for a 7 ply wood deck, the switch and i'm running without a controller (as some wires on it burned). Here is my question: what are the functions of the controller? So far I know
1.- it will delay power to motor once the switch is pressed; 2.- It wont send power to motor if battery voltage is ~20v . Besides these is there another function
for it that anyone knows. My batteries are being charged straight from the 30v AC adapter, my new switch connects the 2 batteries to the motor and power is
sent right away which I don't mind except for when i added 2 more batteries for a total of 4 batteries. By the way i'm new to this community group and really
enjoy and appreciate all the hands on experience shared here.
