Fuse link, circuit breaker and wiring diagrams?

Greetings again,
Short story long: On my previous post about Foxx Battery "no customer service", I cautioned them that I would persue small claims, BBB, arbritation, etc. and it lit a fire under them! At least they are always cordial.
Anyway, when I get my battery pack and finally put things together next week, I'm wondering about the above topic;
-What amp fuse do I use between the 36V/20Ah battery and 35amp controller? Is a circuit breaker and/or switch needed other than the BD36 controller on/off switch? Should I get a CycleAnalyst for voltage cut-off (30V) or just a Watts-Up and watch it? I can not find these wiring schematics/answers on the site searches.
This group is so knowledable and I sure appreciate the feedback.

My bms on the Ping pack handles low voltage cut off for me. Does the Fox come with no bms? If so, you will want something better than the WE controller for LVC since it still works fine at 24v. I would have a cycleanalyst on my bike if I could afford it. I ended up with two ebikes and needed to stop spending. I haven't fused anything, so I guess I could be risking my controller. The time I could have used one, I shorted at the hub after the axle spun, and blew a controller. I don't know where I should have had the fuse, before or after the controller. For emergency cut off, if a controller blows and is stuck on full speed, I will yank the connector at the controller under the seat apart, or step off and throw the bike if about to hit something.

Re: Fuse link, circuit breaker and wiring diagrams?

Hi All. Just got my WE BD36 going about a week ago and what a blast. Making a kid out of a old man.

First thing I did was wire in a toggle switch in series with the tinfoil key lock found on the WE 36v stock controller

I too am wondering about a fuse, what size and where to wire it in.
Anyone with any additional input?

And thank you Dogman for all the good WE input. It has been a great help to me. Half the fun of this EVbike thing has been the fun of the info search. All the great stuff I have picked up along the way. Thank you all.

RussD,
Ditto what you said about contributors to the forum. I'm 60 and having fun with my EV hobby but knew zippo about this stuff. I don't look at this so much as a bike but rather an E-vehicle. I have a Giant LaFree Lite. Great bike.
I'm curious about your BD36 too! I have no key with my controller, only an on/off toggle.
I received my LiFePO4 pack today; the BMS is built into the charger. Nothing else on this big brick 6"x7"x8+" ! So much for a rack pack...I wonder if one of those SLA packs would work? It's a chunk. I still wonder if a 30amp fuse works with a 35amp controller and a Batt that can send bursts of (60-80?) I don't get it. I have to get a meter or I'll kill the thing for sure.

With no BMS for discharge you will definitely need something to monitor the batt. Quick and dirty would be to hook up a voltmeter to it and mount it on the handlebars so you could see if you were taking the pack too low. You could even just stop and check it once in a while, after all, it won't get low before you get tired. After awhile, you will know which trips don't need you to watch the battery and which do. 99% of your riding will never get that close to using up the whole battery unless you go really long distances. The cost of lithium is so high that getting a cycleanalyst is justified for sure, but a voltmeter can get you by till you get one in. The scooter parts places on the web, or even a local auto parts should have fuse holders and fuses. a 50 ought to be good for you. A 35 amp controller can still put out a burst of power at times that is more than 35. Controllers will shut themselves down when the motor gets hot and draws too much amps. Mine does all the time, especially hill starts. I oughta peadle some first. Chances are that the controller will trip in time to save the battery from too much abuse. But let the charge get drained too far on lifepo4 and it's toast. I think all you really need to worry about is low voltage.

Oh and thanks for the compliments, but don't forget to ask Link when you REALLY want to know about the electronics. I'm just the guy who tries to rephrase stuff into non math language. Learned how to do that a lot, turning architectual and engineering blueprints into something a dropout construction worker could understand. I had a lot of time to write last month laying around with two broken collarbones. Posting the little bit I knew kept me from going cabin fever.
