First silly question: The red button the the right side hand grip (same position as the horn button on the left side) - what is it for? I can't seem to find any function that this button performs. Is it just a "dummy" that's not used in this particular model? (Hey! How about we use that switch to control regenerative braking on-demand?)
Next silly question: The rear brake rotor has already warped and is creating a very annoying "chirp chirp chirp" as it moves the caliper back and forth on it's alignment pin. The rotor is way too thin to even think about machining it like you can turn a automotive brake rotor. I would have thought that since the factory rotor was drilled that it would have disipated heat fast enough to prevent warping - but obviously not the case here. Personally I feel that a thicker rotor would be more appropriate, since the extra metal mass can absorb (and release) the heat of braking without distortion. I have never played with cycles before, so I really have no clue how to go about looking for different size rotors/calipers/brackets that would be appropriate for this machine. Can anyone help with guidance on a possible solution to this?
How about others helping to chime in on this topic with quirks/fixes for their XM3K?
I would suggest opening up a support ticket at X-Treme and let them know about this - you should be under warranty.

It's probably the kill switch. See if it stops power to the motor when you press it. On the gas scooter, I think it's the starter. On my Z20, I wired it to the contactor to shut down the high power circuit. Normally the regen is tied to the brake light circuit, which means just hit the brakes lightly to start regen - That's how it works on my Z20 with Kelly controller. Of course the XM3K does not have regen. The Vectrix uses a complicated scheme where you roll the throttle backwards - makes it hard to operate smoothly with the regular brake, and owners have complained about it.

I read in some other form it's the button you push 30 seconds after the controller had some error (over 60 amps, I could be mistaken) , and the controller will reset and work again.

Page 2 of the xm-3000 manual has the following paragragh:
2) When the key is inserted and turned to the "ON" position, the power indicator will illuminate. If current drain is over 60A, the power will be automatically cut off to avoid over-heating. Wait for one minute and then press the red button (see pg. 7) to restart the vehicle.

Fantastic idea! Thanks for the link - I did open a support ticket for the brake rotor issue and also for the lower floorboard side covers that were damaged in shipping after your suggestion. Time will tell how they will respond....

I think they're pretty good.. they got me some replacement plastic, a new charger, & a turn signal in pretty short time.. some other things are back ordered, but i can ride it!
