Converting a Yamaha YX600 Radian

Hello, everyone! I've been lurking on these boards for quite a while waiting for a good electric vehicle.

However, I've decided to pass the time by converting an old 1986 Yamaha YX600 Radian to run on electric. I've been reading through some build logs of others that have done this, but I thought I'd ask some questions about newer equipment.

Initially I thought I'd get a D&D SepEx with a Sevcon PowerPak 425A which is rated at 25hp peak. I wanted to run the bike at 72V with 6 41Ah AGM batteries (246Ah). Will this get me to highway speeds or is it too overpowered for the application? Also, is there a good range calculator somewhere or is calculating the range for something like this just relying on experience?

Cool.

A little nitpick is you're doing the battery math wrong:

I wanted to run the bike at 72V with 6 41Ah AGM batteries (246Ah).

72v of 41ah batteries is 72v41ah. When batteries are in series their voltages add together but the ah rating stays the same. When batteries are in parallel their ah ratings add together and the voltage stays the same. Maybe there's an alternate universe where the voltage and ah ratings add together at the same time, but there the sky is probably purple.

Just wondering: Is it possible to connect lithium cells in parallel, or is there a technical problem with this? (I'm not being a wise guy, just an ignorant one.)

Whoops, yes, you are absolutely correct.

However, what about the motor there? I couldn't find anyone using the same configuration for a motorcycle.

72V of 41ah, is this a reasonable configuration to fit in a Radian chassis? Radian is a naked bike, aesthetics count, but aesthetics aside... ... ?????
