Hello everyone! I've been using this forum as a resource, and now I'm joining the conversation with a question. There may be more.
I've been riding electric for a year and a half, and it's totally changed my life. I've put 5000 miles on my Bionx Townie, burnt through a controller and a motor, and still keep coming back. It's been a fun 18 months.
Now, the system does have it's quirks, but this is a new one. I'm setting up a HP Velotechnik as my next Bionx, and I got the kit (the bike is still being built). I swapped batteries with my old one, and it worked fine for a little while (other than not being able to set the clock, which is odd), but after about 2 miles, it went in full regenerative mode, and I couldn't go anywhere, no matter what speed I put it on. I wound up biking back the old fashioned way, but I'm still curious what to do. I've tried the other battery (same problem), and the new controller (same problem). It seems like it's the motor, but it's only a couple months old.
Anyway, is there some setting that someone knows out there that I could try? Is it in secret lock mode?
That's it for now - I just hope that I don't have to take it back to Electric Cyclery in Laguna Beach, since that's an hour and a half drive.

I'm sure you've checked it, but it doesn't take much to move the brake sensor far enought away from the magnet that it stays in Regen mode. It has happened to me just hitting a bad bump. You can always just unplug the sensor to disable it.
Sorry, I knew I should have said, yes, I did check that. It 'works' fine in 0 (in other words, the motor does nothing), but in 1-4 assist, or 1-4 regen, it goes all the way to full regenerative. Could it be a new firmware? If so, why wouldn't it work with one controller and not the other? Looking forward to your thoughts,

Did you try disconnecting the battery as well as turning it off? If none of this fixes, sounds like you should call Bionx. I called them before for problems. Their number is 1-866-620-1109. Not sure if it's still valid. The person I dealt with was very friendly (Vickie).

For some reason, the system switched wheel directions in mid-ride, so by changing this (with code 1976), it works fine now. I'm going to experiment with both batteries, but this may be an incompability issue between two batteries of a different generation. I'll let you know, but keep an eye out for this problem.
