This is Randall with R Martin Limited. The bike being offered in the Ebay listing is a great deal. It is similar to ones we have had built with the 40ah LFP.
Our EVD product is using a 3000 watt motor. It is six phase which enables it to run smooth with good torque. We had Efun test the 3500 watt version but it did not perform as well. The 3000 watt is also easily installed in the wheel which is an added advantage.
We have the VRLA versions in stock with 50ah BB batteries (the EB50).
We have tested the 40ah LFP using 21 cells. I ride one of these regularly. We have decided that the 60ah LFP is worth the extra cost because we can get 60 mph with up to a 60 mile range. We have these on the way.
Did I read correctly at the website that these bikes have ABS brakes? Looks like $5500 for the lithium option.
Looks like they are claiming the 60 mile range at 35mph (not at the top speed) with the 60AH Lithium batteries. Which is still pretty impressive. Funny there hasn't been any buzz on the various boards about these bikes.
I believe these are some of the old proto type from mountain Chen's Falcon/matrix scooters be fore they came up with xm 3500, which also is the one going up the hill with two riders. I just got a msge. from ebay, the the last bid on that scoot is over $2300. and bids are closing soon, good luck bidders.
As mentioned above it's a bike manufactured by EFun - which is operated by Amoyee Chen (Mountain Chen's brother). It's a different motor and controller than the XM-3500 range.
I'll let you know how it goes...

Well, given the price it went for I am disappointed I didn't get it.. but I'm trying to remember that honestly I was bidding because I thought the price was too low. And I think the price it went for was too low ... I test rode one of these a couple months ago, they're solid.
Just curious, did anyone who bid on that scooter do so because I posted info on it here and what transpired in this thread, or had you already seen it on ebay?
I think you got a great deal on it. Be even better if you lived near the seller and could pick it up in person and save the shipping cost. Two brothers with two different companies building competing scooters. I bet there is a story there.
No, I bid because of the announcement made by Dan Car over in the dealer section of this site (over here - that pre-dated this thread. I figured it was a good opportunity to get a bike at a good price.
Even with shipping it should still be a reasonable deal.
The Chen brothers used to be Erato and they split ways. Mountain founded ERider and Amoyee founded EFun. I'm looking forward to the chance of seeing these bikes side by side. :-)

This seems to be a LA version.

That website ( http://www.rmartinbikes.com./evd.html ) seems to be for a 3000 vs 3500. Am I missing something?

60 MPh and 60 mile range? Wow, if you can actually get that in real world use that makes some of the competition look bad.
60 MPH 60 Mile range --How would that be priced?

I'd like to test ride one of these with the high torque motors.

You can haggle on this one but I don't know what type of battery it has. It is in Sacramento.

The R Martin site (http://www.rmartinbikes.com/evd) that the listing refers to says:
So it has five really large 12V lead acid batteries.
