once in awhile my '07 zapino loses power for acceleration, esp. after a stop. the problem resolves when i shut the key off for awhile and then restart. any ideas about why this is happening, or what to do about it? thanks!

LOL, that's probably it.
Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.
hahah. no, that's not the problem. any other ideas?
Kickstand not fully retracted? (no kidding, that's happened to me twice on my bike)

the brake handles seem to be fine. the scooter has little acceleration power at first right after a stop. then it seems to pick up fine afterwards. then it lags again after another stop. like i said, it goes back to normal if i turn off the key and restart. i just dont want it to get worse. thanks for the response!
did not think of the kickstand--i'll check that. thanks!
Once in awhile my Zapino does not want to run well after I turn the key on.
I have to turn the key off, then back on. I am wondering about the switch
contacts? I think someone else mentioned the switch asm being a sort of
cheap asm and would eventually fail. I plan on taking mine apart and seeing
if I can replace the switch with something better.

Bird,
What is your range when it starts to act up? Are you getting an overtemp warning light? I had a similar issue where my '07 began to shut off when stopped. It originally started after about 20 miles and eventually got to a point where it would happen down below 10 miles and sometimes after only a couple of miles. After some correspondence through my dealer Zap thought it to be a controller issue. Zap wanted the scooter back so they eventually switched out the scooter for a 2008 model.
smgdudley,
On the 2008 I had a similar issue. In my case I found that I had a push pin at one of the connectors at the speed limiter switch hidden under the seat. The yellow foam holding in one of the pins was pulled out just enough to allow for an intermittent connection.
Hope this helps.
alandf,
there doesn't seem to be any pattern as far as mileage goes, but i have had the diagnostic light flash 3 then 2 once in a while. in the manual that says it's an indication of "controller current sensor", in which case "restart the key or repair controller". sounds like that was your issue, also. thanks for the response!
Bird,
I forgot to mention that I heard through the local dealer that Zap did upgrade the 2007 controller. I believe it was to address this issue. You may want to check into getting a new one under warranty.
I too have noticed this once in a while when the scooter is cold. After turning the ignition off and back on it seems to run fine. I haven't ever had this happened once the scooter has been on for a while and is warm.

Your problem is likely in the controller. If you have a local dealer, perhaps they can check it. If not, I can walk you through the troubleshooting and repair steps. It sounds like your scooter is beyond its warrantee period. But, if you are mechanically minded, you can probably fix it yourself.
