I have just received my 36v15A LiFePo4 battery w/BMS, how do I wire it up? Need Help...

I have checked all over the forums and it seems no one has a write up on how to wire batteries for basic connections and where to get such parts....The wires coming out of my battery pack say Positive, Discharge Negative, and Charging Negative...I have the Crystalyte control with trailer plug and the XLR plug for the charger...Is there a schematic some where to help me through this process? Can some one help me out!!???

Positive wire goes to the positive side of both the controller and your charger plug. Discharge negative goes to the negative on the controller. Charging negative goes to the negative on your charger plug. The two negatives have to do with the BMS doing different things when charging and discharging. You are going to love lifepo4. Expect some balancing activity on the first few charges, where the charger will go on and off a few times at the end of the charging cycle. While it does this the BMS will get pretty warm. After a few charge and discharge cycles the battery will settle down and stop balancing itself, and at that point will take its full capacity when you charge. Like sla's they will be slightly short on the range for a few cycles. No particular regime to break in the batteries that I know of, but I would say go for several rides in the 5-10 mile range to cycle the battery at first.

What about wire size,fuses,switches...etc...? Do I need any of these things? My XLR plug has 3-holes, how do I know which is negative and which is positive? Also the trailer connector coming out of the crystalyte controller has three prongs as well, do I need to use all of them?? This is why I need a schematic, I have no clue as to go about the wiring this up and I don't want to mess it up making an 800 dollar paper weight...

Where did you get this? The description sounds like a pingping battery (same wires) but those came with an instruction sheet which walked you through these issues. In particular it included a schematic showing which pins of the XLR connector to use, and my copies of that schematic are at home, and I'm not going to try to give advise from memory.

That is the second time I have heard that this is a Ping battery. I noticed a thread on another forum which a guy had an exact same battery and bought it from the same place I did. I purchased mine from Liberty Seamless out of PA and didn't come with a schematic or anything. If I would have known that they get there LiFePo4 from Ping, I would have saved myself 300.00$ and bought one off of ebay. Lesson learned..I think from the previous poster and some researching I have figured out how to wire it up so i can try it out...thanks

Re: I have just received my 36v15A LiFePo4 ...

Sorry, but I am also clueless about three wires from the controller to the battery. All my WE controllers just have two wires to the battery. Ask in the Chrystalite section about the controller pinouts. I doubt you have a Ping lifepo4 unless you bought straight form him, lots of the other vendors send em out with no instructions though.

My chargers will put out current if I just plug them into the wall, so a voltmeter tells me which is + and which is - to match up the charger wires correct when I wire a plug.
